Thanks that’s a good heads up. I looked at it I’ll have to make my mind up order that or wait for an upper and lower Aero set

Okay guys, lookin to replace the barrel on my 11.5” SBR, it seems as though I’ve shot it out, cleaning it this evening the bore brush was much looser than the other 556 rifle I cleaned and I think I’m at about 7K rounds, at least 4K being wolf/Tula.
It’ll be suppressed 99.8% of the time, which barrels should I be looking at? Budget around 300.

Obviously look at reputable brands, but I caution you if you’re using a AR and shooting rounds in any type of volume…AND suppressed…I would recommend some type of 4150 chrome moly unless you like replacing barrels. Heat is the primary component to barrel wear and throat erosion. Though….normally I know if the barrel is about shot when accuracy (group size) opens.

I use to check lands measurement with OAL gauge but I had a Remington 700 that had like 1.5 inches of wear past the free-bore and it still shot sub moa….until I cut the barrel back and re reamed it.

    I hadn’t considered BCM, thanks!

I appreciate the info, I haven’t shot on paper or really much past 50 yards lately to notice a difference in accuracy/grouping, I just know that I’m hitting 66% ipsc steel at 240 yards if I do shoot past 50.
It just tripped me out having such a noticeable difference in pressure to put a .22 bore brush down 2 556 barrels.

The basic PSA (non premium) barrel that came with the upper. It started life as a basic PSA upper and I’ve swapped the BCG, CH, handguard, gas block and gas tube, so besides the barrel just the upper is PSA.

I haven’t but I don’t shoot paper or past 50 yards often and I haven’t painted my steel lately so I’m not that sure of where my hits are on steel.

Hodge is a bit spendy and I think they only go down to 12.5 but their barrels are supposed to be designed around heavy suppressed use with hot ammo

SOLGW would be another I’d consider along with BCM…I don’t think FN makes one that short for commercial sales

I've been happy with my 11.5 ballistic advantage barrel. Just a budget minded option for you that isn't bottom tier but also no top operator level either. They are 4150 chrome moly with a .073 gas port size so it shouldn't be super over gassed. For the $120 you will spend on them, you could probably buy 2 that will last you many many years.

Damn that’s a pretty good deal and I’d prefer it with no fcg so I could get what I wanted instead
