So I was in the process of adding extra d-rings to my bed and was using the drainage holes as the mounting points. So after suceeding with the passengers side I move onto the drivers side and promptly drop the backing plate onto the gas tank. After a bit blindly searching, I stumble across it and try it again. It falls a second time and the damn thing is no where to be found. After an hour of searching I called it quits.

    Is this a problem?

-- Will my truck explode on my way to work tomorrow?

-- Will my PreRunner now be granted the powers of 4x4?

-- Are my Sockmonkey decals going to fall of now?

All I really need to know is if it's cool to drive with that thing doing potentially all sorts of shading dealings in the nether-regions of my truck.

Also, if anyone knows a crafty way to find that thing, I'm open to suggestions.

your truck has AT LEAST a 95% chance of blowing up and/or the ability to look like a mini cooper.

i wouldnt think it would be a problem. no moving parts on top of the tank itself, but in the general area, maybe

Best thing to do is to use a flashlight and a mirror, and see if you can see on top of the tank to locate it. If you can see it, try to fabricate some kinda contraption to retrive it. Aside from that, if you cant find it, sadly your truck wont become a 4x4, but there is a chance you could begin to have feelings of depression, anal seepage, or sudden blindness. In some cases, tape worms have been another side affect.

I imagine it will bounce free while driving. It is always the part you have one of that goes missing.

Take a cellphone camera, or digital camera and look for it. Those have saved me several times. I would try and find it. If it falls off going down the freeway it could either bounce up and hit your truck or another car. Of course I droped a nut down on the skid plate a while back and just found it. Don't know how it made it for that long.

I guess we know what you use your laptop for, by looking at the state of your keyboard. :D:eek:

This may not be as simple as it sounds, but what about unscrewing the bed bolts and trying to remove the plastic bed shell? There are probably about 100 clips in addition to the 4 bolts, but . . . possibility?
