    Well that will save you $6k over the life of the loan.

    I'm guessing those are Canadian dollars?

    Even if Canadian, those payments make my eyes water just looking at them.

    Also shop around for your loan as those don't seem to be particularly good finance rates.

    Why would anybody choose to buy a new truck only to complain about the payments and it's size afterwards o_O

    Well, to be fair, the payment that the dealer says you can afford and the payment you can actually afford are likely two very different things.

    Tons of people are roped into more vehicle than they need or can comfortably afford, especially with the crazy prices right now.

    7 and 8 year car loans are getting more common.

    If you need 8 years to pay for a car, what you actually need is a cheaper car.

    Plenty of room in the bed of the truck for whichever family member is least cooperative that day.

    Did you perhaps buy a Taco and then immediately get yourself into an oops third child situation?

    I know, I know. JOKING, mostly.

    The trade is financially advantageous, ‘tis all we can say.

    Is it really the dealers fault though. It's all there in writing and all that's left is for you to do is sign and sign and sign. Plenty of wait time to decide if you can "afford it".

    Oh it's absolutely not the dealer's fault.

    Nobody is forcing anyone to buy a car (though I have heard of some pretty strong arm tactics but never experienced them myself)

    They just capitalize on emotions to sell you a car, and an emotional decision is rarely a rational one.

    Combine that with dealers who will gladly sell you a monthly payment while obfuscating the actual price of the car and it's all too easy for some to get upside down with vehicles.

    And is also why I kind of enjoy buying a car. I enjoy walking away to the musical strains of "But wait!".

    you guys make me laugh =) in a good way

    no one forced a sale;

    my subaru crapped out, had a rental for 3 weeks and needed a reliable vehicle asap; wanted a truck so I didn't have to ask for help when moving crap [garbage, housing] plus wanted to rip around forest service roads without worrying too much about bottoming out, suspension etc.

    Tacoma's are top for reliability and resale value; had reached out to like 6/7 dealers over text with sales person in terms of hey what do you have & when; gf wanted a sunroof that is it really. put depot at couple dealerships

    picked the sales person that seemed most up front and got refund from other dealerships; waited the 3 weeks [rental was 2021 mazda mx5 since the subaru ate shit] got the truck.

    made mistake taking kid and gf to dealership; excepting to be in & out. financing was a gong show; kid going crazy, finance person being late and taking forever to go over paper work hence me saying yes to everything in hopes of signing and getting out. that is how payments ended up so much, remember in Canada they have to sell MSRP;

    honestly didn't care too much about overall price just wanted to make sure it was relatively affordable and only 60 months [dealers delight]

    what changed is our rent went up over $700, we are expecting a child, we need more room when traveling, oh and my gf quit her job but made more then me only working ~ 15hrs a month from home.

    when we started using the truck I immediately thought ffs should have got a tundra.... but imagine that I wouldn't have been able to afford that anyways!!

    from what I learned reading on here is that a small lift and good tires go a long way, if I really wanted to feel better on the forest service roads with the xle I will upgrade those when I run out of warranty and that will probably happen fast seeing how in only 7 months I put on about 30k on the truck

    now I am waiting for New Westminster toyota dealership to get their allotted shipment in next couple weeks and see what they offer on the trade in. without seeing the truck don docsteader subaru aka dilawri group in vancouver offered 52k; New Westminster has not given me a trade in value.

    finance rate did drop to 3.49% on their website though; what I need to do is reach out to some dealerships and ask for trade in/sale value to get an average
