Appreciate that. You mean the joints or the shocks? I have front and rear, new UCA, and cam bolts to do. Maybe if no one else had 12/18 mods, could the crew tackle everything at @SCOTT'S TACO LOCO ? I mostly take pictures, hand out tools, and provide beverages!

I was referring to the coilovers. The UCA is a PITA. But we could get that done too. I would tell you to have the alignment shop do the cam bolts. Should not cost anything unless they are seized.

The UCA is just a couple of wrenches, pry bar, vice to bend the inner fender, a hammer and a long punch.

If it's too much for everyone, I'll wait on the suspension stuff. This is about easy mods, meeting up, and beers after all!

I think the bolts should be good. Our famous wrench up here (Texoma) pulled them out when he did my front end parts a couple years back, could not believe 195K could look so good, greased them, and put them back. I'm sure Firestone will want a buck or two, since it's a lifetime align, but that's not a problem.

Man, I forgot all about that. Gonna need that again! I used to toss a $20 on the seat for the tech every time I went in. I had my alignment redone every time I changed my oil.

So I have never worked on a transfer switch but def understand the concept of how things work with it input vs output. My thought with your system is that I wonder if there is a way to input into the solar with the generator so that you can keep the batteries charged longer but that would mean you would be dealing with an AC/DC conversion unless the main unit can take an input like this. Not sure it would work but would need to see the wiring diagram to understand it more.

Sure, not hard at all, would of taken care of @Tacotsubo's place if his main feed was not set up the way it was. Built a plug on the back of the house so he can input his generator for things like this.

So never worked on a solar house would it not come with a transfer switch already if the need to separate from the main feed coming in?

Hmm let me talk to a couple of the electricians locally and see if they are game for coming to help you, hell if I can I would tag along so that I can see how this all comes together.

Yeah didn't know he had solar, that adds a bit of curve ball, depending on current setup, maybe total pita to add a transfer switch that accommodate either source.

I think it is very possible but handing the additional input from the generator.... maybe a 3 way transfer switch depending on the needs so it can handle two input sources...?

Are you going to the meetup? Would love to talk more about hardwiring the generator.

    Good morning everyone.

Well, many thanks. Actually, went to bed with this rolling around. Have to find my Solar inverter book. Thinking GAS back up had me stuck on the Large Transfer for whole house. ACTUALLY, I believe the battery would connect via the existing Inverter (7 KVA rated), because that's where the DC from the cells go. That would make the battery just another part of the solar, and since it's always connected, NO transfer. Now, can I control the battery use so that it would only unload a portion of the charge daily - saving plenty for emergency? Have to see.

If I'm correct, then I could use a much smaller transfer switch and connection that would be Generator only, making it the back up back up of my dreams.

    Have to find the book!

If you lose power, how long can you run on solar before your out of power?

Morning Kevin - I hope ONE is good enough for me. Having it prevents Winter storms!
Morning Mark - Happy Vacation and safe travels!
    Morning Scott
Morning Ozzy - aren't you too young for this kinda stuff?

:pccoffee: Good Morning SA! Putz and plants - gotta catch up from being on the road so much since last week. Maybe bring the plants IN the greenhouse, but Thanksgiving night is supposed to be only 40* - they can handle that. But the last time they said 41* this week, it hit 33*! We'll see. Bunch of research to do too.
Oddball stuff too. I had the left bulb burned out in the climate control assembly. I've replaced it twice, and it now appears that that part of the circuit isn't working. Take it back out, and hit it with a meter. Stuff like that, and Christmas lights to keep me busy this weekend.
