Someone who's smarter than me - what is the difference here vs. him being paid and then buying BTC with his salary.

Well - okay, to be fair I haven't read the headline, but if I was on that contract as the payer I would say "Okay, we'll pay your salary in BTC minus the fees of the trades, so IE we put 10M into the buying and giving of BTC to you, if 200K is used in fees, then you get 9.8M of BTC", I would think.

I dunno. I'm just curious.

That's what I was wondering.

 

Marketing. They get a deal with a company, they announce they are getting paid in Bitcoin, they promote Bitcoin and whatever crypto company they partner with, and help increase the awareness and interest in crypto and hopefully increase the value of their investments.
