6th Annual Christmas Tree Build - 2021 Edition

It usually blows up after Thanksgiving

 

Growing up, we never put our tree up until after Thanksgiving


It was the same one year after year, I assume my parents still put it up.

 

We do our tree and other decorations the Friday after. We usually start early and make a day out of it. We don't do the Black Friday nonsense. It's peaceful home time for us

 

When I was a kid we had a silver foil tree.
The branches were about the length of welding rods with aluminum tinsel on them and stuck into angle drilled holes in the silver painted wooden center post.
It was meant to have a light with a slow revolving color wheel, we didn't have that part.
Our tree wasn't as grand as the one below -- more of a Charlie Brown type of a tree.

A few family treasures. 3 blow mold soldiers and 2 candles from my parents house in the early 1980’s. I did have 6 soldiers but a few of them just completely cracked. One of those childhood memories I get to enjoy every Christmas season.

I had a wiseman that was stolen a few years back. As a joke he was like elf on the shelf. I called him Wendell the wiseman

and he showed up at block parties, road trips, picnics and once a beer garden. My neighbor started looking for used ones. He said the best he could do for a replacement was mother Mary. As a kid who went to Catholic school that’s a line I can’t cross. So Mary is only on Christmas display not the traveling road show!
