I’m completely stock and no issues.
I did slightly scrape the hitch coming out of a steep and tight wash/rut.
Several of the washes were rutted at the bottom just wide enough to swallow the tires, so you have to take them slow.
The last mile or so is bumpy slabby rock, but there were really only a couple places where I needed to be conscious about my line.

Camped right on a river and drove around in the Toxaway Gamelands near the Nantahala National Forest. Nantahala means the land of the noon day sun in Cherokee.

For almost 3 1/2 years, I’ve been using that DB HD cover with Front Runner Outfitters bed rack setup carrying a smaller sized rtt (a Tepui Ayer 2: 2-person backpacking tent size footprint when deployed, weighing approximately 94lbs. w/ foam mattress inside). The rack with rtt are positioned toward the back and allows for the front cover panel to open up, giving access to items in the front portion of the bed. For items in the rear portion of the bed, I drop down the tailgate for access. If you need to open both front and back panels for whatever reason, then you’d need to take the bed rack and rtt off the DB cover.

For this tonneau cover & bed rack/crossbars combo, most have opted for the FRO load bars instead of the bed rack. Going with that, they only have to remove the rtt to be able to open either panel of the DB cover. The bed rack and rtt setup I use just isn’t for everyone. Most are preferring to use the smaller hard shell tents that sit kind of flush on the short beds when mounted on FRO load bars on tracks that are attached to the DB cover. That will not allow for either panel to open up while hauling an rtt over the bed.

Thinking about my cooking set up: I'd like to utilize a hitch mounted swing arm but all I'm seemingly finding are for gas grills. What I *think* I'd like is a swing arm but just a flat surface on top so I can put my stove while still leaving full tailgate for extra space or closed.

Anyone able to point me in a better direction? Or better yet: anyone able to fab up an attachment?

You probably get asked this all the time, what kind of bike is that?

Saw those. Like the idea but im looking something like that but with just a flat surface that I could put my stove on.

Putting a camper table base type mount on the inside of a the tailgate and a simple insert in it isn't an option for me.

That's pretty much spot on what I'm thinking. But I've got a lot of other things I'd prioritize 2k on! I'd just do a ~$50 collapsible table if I had the width under the bed platform to store one. Might end up doing a slide out board with an adjustable mono-leg for support.

What kind of critters out there have you carrying 5 mags? Some guys only carried 6 in Afghanistan haha.

Keep in mind that the AK mags are Kommiefornia mags. Lol… I didn’t have an AK yet at the time of Freedom Week, so I only picked up an AK drum mag. The rest were some standard AR 15 mags and some pistol mags. I also should have got some 20rders instead of just 30rd AR15 mags.

It’s an ebike by Sur Ron. It’s kind of a hybrid of an electric mountain bike and dirt bike.

Thanks man! I’m actually thinking of trying out a slightly bigger hard shell tent with the new Roofnest Condor Overland. I wish there was a hard shell rtt with the same footprint as small as the Tepui Ayer 2 when closed.

A bit pricey, but check these out (I don't have one, just came across them) https://www.rucrak.com/product-page/rucrak-swing-arm-hitch-mounted-bundle

That's pretty sweet but yeah. I've got more important things to spend that kind of money on! If I had access to/had rudimentary welding skills I'd buy some stock and fab something up. But for now a collapsible table may be my smarter option.
