Well, in all fairness, I was kind of stumped as to how to get just the chrome piece out after the lights were apart. I saw the two hex screws but it was my girl friend who noticed the little tabs (2) that you had to pop before the two pieces would separate. So probably thanks to her I didn't get frustrated and break the darn things. Guess I should consider getting some glasses, cause I didn't even see em.

 

When changing the lamps (bulbs) do you have to take the headlights off?
When I had mine off I really couldn't tell how to get them out, though I didn't really spend much time seeking an answer to that end. And I would be curious as to how much difference you can tell with the new lights setup. If the difference is dramatic, I'll add it to my wish list.

 

Hello I installed an HID Xenon Kit on my Tacoma 1998

It was a H4 low Xenon bulb with a quartz halagon high beam bulb. 5000K was the color as I wanted it to be simular color to my Sylvania SilverStar bulbs (4300K).

This supplier had good prices and fast delivery.

What I did not like about this kit was
1) Wiring plugs were backward. IE which way wires came out of rubber sealing ring. The HID wires were correct, but the quartz wires where backwards. I pulled on the white wires for high beam and one of them came out of connector in my hand. This was the double wire for common light ground connection going to the 3 terminal connection for plugging into existing headlight plug socket. But I need to fix this anyway. So little work opening other crimp on connectors that plug into existing headlight wiring. Some soldiering and that was done.
2) Mounting of passagerside ballast was easy. Found metric bolt to install in empty welded nut that Toyota gave me on fender just back from aircleaner. Drivers side required me to drill and make my own mounting hole very near RAD support. As I have just to many things on drivers side by battery. Block heater cord,120V Battery blanket, and 120V Electrical receptacle to plug cord ends in.Also I have battery isolated and resetable breakers for trailer feed on fender between battery and fuse box.
3) After disabling DRL took 2 attempts,First attempt remove DRL fuse from engine bay fuse box. Second attempt Finally I unpluged dropping resistor on drivers side between battery and fender.
4) Install lights and did burn in test.
5) Now what I do not like... (Buy biXenon instead of Dual bulb) .... My bulbs have 1 HID Xenon bulb for low beam. Takes upto 4 seconds to get good and bright.But when you switch to high beams Low Beam Xenon bulb goes out and now you have crappy quartz halagon bulb for high beam. My old Sylvania Silverstar bulbs are a lot brighter that high quartz halagon bulb. Now the problems comes when flipping back to lowbeam, Lights take up to 4 seconds to get good and bright..... but when they are finally lite man are they bright.

I think I would buy this BiXenon kit instead.

Then would not have to worry about 4 second bright turn on time, and not have to worry about crappy quartz halagon bulb.As I want to be able to see deer jumping in front of my truck instead of smacking them with my truck.

Quartz Halagon bulb is in a replacable socket so I am trying to find Sylvania replacement.No luck yet as I do not know bulb type.


Just hate to part with another 100+ dollars for BiXenon light because I made a mistake.

 

Ditto - minus the sneaky purchases. I have no freedom with my money.

 

Just explain that the new cat-back exhaust system is just as important to you as those new fashionable high dollar shoes (or whatever floats her boat) are to her. Both of you need your little financial indulgences.

You just have to spin it right. I told my better half that is was BS that I had to buy her a rock, but I didn't get anything. I explained to her that from hence forth all engagement rings would have to be equalled by her purchase of an engagement car of equal value. In my case a 1988 Fiero Formula. (In halfway good shape about the same price as the ring she wanted). Needless to say, she saw my point and I lack a Fiero, and she lacks an engagement ring, and we both just wear wedding bands.

Disclaimer... This was the second marriage for both of us, so if you and her are still on your first, your results may vary.

The only thing I could come up with on the spot was " a high end laptop". Then she said, OK, we'll just do wedding bands. WOOO HOOO

Maverick..... dude..... i have never had so much respect for anyone from Jersey before as i have for you. That is such a great idea! From now on thats what i'm gonna tell my womens. Why the hell do they get a multi thousand dollar ring i get nothing? and on top of that, when you register for wedding presents its always for lame stuff at lame stores. And on top of that, the women also get your balls. What kind of shithouse deal is that?!?! Men must be the dumbest creatures on the planet. All i know, when i get married, i'm registering at Best Buy, Grady's outdoor shop, Circuit City, porn/lingere shops, liquor stores, and the Toyota Parts Department. When people ask who makes my wedding china i'm gonna say "solo".

I am pretty sure that you have a much better chance of getting an "engagement w"I"nch" when you propose. Unless by "engagement w"E"nch" you mean that you'll get her to dress like this for you all the time.
