Need to do a right up on the switches. Are you going to be printing up more covers? I want one.

Nice! And since you're making your own LED bars, I highly recommend these things: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TQ1ZCYX?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

I made some led bars for my diamondback when i had a similar setup going. I had concerns about the copper pads being stressed and pulling up off the strip eventually (never did, but I thought they might). What i did this time around, was use one of these connectors, snipped off the top latching portion just to make soldering a bit easier. The aluminum channel is basically a giant heat sink and can make the soldering a bit tricky, so the plastic provides some insulation. Also provides a more robust/secure support for the connection. They're small enough to fit under the plastic cover at the end of the channel.

Thanks for the recommend. I've been soldering directly to the copper pads, then heatshrinking to keep it in place.
Then I use the LED strip adhesive to stick to the aluminum channel.
This time around I also used liberal amounts of hot glue to keep the wires stationary so that the strain on the LED strip is minimized.

Magnetic strips on the back of the aluminum channel work awesome in this cap and I can move my light bars wherever I want them, even so far as clipping them to the doors while open to light up the ground / outside.

This also reminds me that I need to take some night shots / close ups.

I'm the worst at taking in-process photos, and most of this was done a while ago when i had it wired for a similar setup on my diamondback. Let me see what I can dig up. In the meantime, here's a BOM:

Oh yeah, that looks like it will be fine. I like the magnetic strips too, good job.

That table setup looks awesome! I've never seen one installed. Is there any movement or vibration that you can hear when driving or is it pretty secure? Have you had a chance to use it yet? Worth the price tag?

I haven't heard anything out of the cap since installing, but I haven't done any trails yet, so it may change. The padding / carpeting in the rails is very nice and there's not a ton of wiggle room so I think it'll do just fine.
I have taken it out and demo'd it to a bunch of people to show off my light setup and how I can move the light bars around, and so far it's been very stable. Considering I was going to make something myself, and then realized how great their solution was, I feel the cost is worth it. It really is a pretty good locking / movement mechanism and I like how well it tucks up in the top.

Didn’t someone in one of the threads have issues with there table after limited use? Something to do with the fasteners failing I think. The table setup was a big selling point for me when buying the topper but I’ve heald off until I’ve heard more feedback. $400 is steep for a folding table.

The hinge / legs are riveted in place. The complaint I read was about the rivets loosening / popping out. IMHO that's like a $20 fix if I have to buy a riveter, so I wasn't concerned.

That’s right, it was the rivets. Seems like a bad choice of fastener for something in the premium price range.
If the rivets are breaking then I’d replace them with a bolt and nut so it can be serviced in the field. No one wants to be fixing broken rivets on their table in the middle of a trip.

Went ahead and made some of my own. Thanks for the idea! I considered using a small silicone tube gasket, but ultimately decided against it since the rubber gasket already provided seems to be enough. There's only about 0.5mm slop all the way around, so not much room for water to creep in past the print, over the gasket, and into the lock. I used 1/8x1/8 magnets and press fit into a petg print. Tested one tonight in an hour of heavy rain, and the lock housing was dry as a bone when I got home :). Only thing i worry about is that they grow legs and walk away...

Only had enough magnets to do one piece so i have more en route. Thanks again!

I checked one out at a RSI dealership and I wasn't all that impressed with it's sturdiness...felt kinda flimsy.

And just like that, a small business was born. This would definitely be a popular item. You should probably make a few hundred of these, lol.

This is fantastic, While freezing locks hasn't been a primary concern of mine, this also seems like an awesome theft prevention step. People might not assume it can open from all sides.

Anyone in the Reno area interested in a two month old RSI smart cap EVO sport? Thinking about selling mine as I just don’t use it like I thought I would..
