The car electrics run off of the 12v battery, even if the traction battery was dead it would still turn on.

 

1991 Geo Prism; One of those times "Shitbox" is a compliment rather than an insult!

I had the opportunity to chat with the owner of this car, who is the the third owner; The original owner was an old lady who kept it in the garage, and her grandkids inherited it when she died. The grandkids totally trashed the car, and the old man who currently owns it ended up getting it for a song. The car is very sparsely optioned, with only A/C and an automatic transmission; It doesn't even intermittent wipers! It has power steering and power brakes, but those were standard even in 1991.

The car only has about 110K miles on it, which is shocking for a 30-year old Toyota product in rough condition; The A/C no longer works, the heat barely works, and the car has a significant rust problem as you can see. However, it runs like a champ; It passed both the emissions test and safety inspection with no issues.

Yeah; Solstice came out first though...

 

Gotcha, Saturn got kinda weird towards the end, vaguely recall German Platforms and the use of Honda engines. There was some rare hatchback sold for a few years too which l almost think was Swedish or something else oddball.

 

So, the hybrid system is shot. However, one of the mechanics who works for my mechanic is going to make an offer on the Camry, replace the hybrid system himself, and drive the car as a much more fuel efficient alternative to his 2007 Sequoia! The car itself is solid, has a clear title, and had nothing mechanically wrong with it prior to the hybrid system giving out; It does need some minor body work and a good detailing, but it will easily go another 200K if properly maintained!

 

The car has been sitting since at least last spring and the battery is not new; I'm sure if we hooked up a booster pack to it the accessories would work.

That's a GS or IS300 steering wheel. Nice!

 

Been wanting a GS400 or GS430 forever. In 97 or 98 it was the fastest production sedan available. Ahead of it's time.

 

Not AWD and not manual, but still from Toyota's "indestructible era"; 1993 Corolla DX wagon with 265K miles and ice cold R-12 A/C!
