Im gonna seal up all the header boards and electric boxes with spray foam since apparently that helps a ton. Then just add R19 rolls on top of the blown. Should be around R30 total all said and done. That and its cheaper then renting a blower. I also wanna add lights up there and some drops for some wall sconces. It'll be easier to locate things without 16" of blown fiberglass everywhere.

After that Ill go chill out with the snakes in the crawlspace and touch up the insulation down there.

I'm still skeptical of doing rolls over blown. You can do blown over rolls but vice versa isn't recommended. You end up compressing the blown even more, and you don't fill certain cavities. Also the blower rental would probably only be like <10% of the cost wouldn't it?

At my father in laws house in Grass Valley for Thanksgiving, nice to be up north where it actually feels like Fall. Freakin 84° at home today

    PXL_20211124_231225024.jpg

Pic doesn't do it justice but he's got the steepest driveway I've seen at a house, in winter when it freezes he has to park up top or he's stuck.

Looked pretty good to me, you ground V notches into a joint to a rounded surface so the welds aren't proud, but they look strong

Ah cool, yeah the 559Yota guys have been posting a lot of wheeling get-togethers and they're all playing in snow.

I need to replace my damn seal so I can at least go wheeling a bit.

How'd Sofia do on the plane?

The blown thats up there is 60 years old and very compressed. Its maybe 2.5" deep if that. I could see putting batts on top of fresh blown not really helping, but when its compressed down I dont really see an issue.

    Thank you sir!

I did consider grinding them a bit, even dropping another bead and welding then flush but decided "that's too much work for a pole that's made of plastic"

Got any tips on my root passes with stick weld next week?

I may just watch some videos right now.

Pretty good, she got a little shrieky a few times but since it's holiday travel she wasn't the only baby/toddler making noise. Plus it was a quick 50 min flight which was nice.

What are you and Steph and doing for Thanksgiving?

It's all about consistency. Train the stick feed and forward motion into your brain haha. Stick welding was a mind game for me, as soon as started having fun rather than remembering every little tidbit about how to hold the rod and such is when it became eaiser. If you train the tidbits in as muscle memory it becomes easy, so I guess practice is key

    Ha, well that's good.

You and Rebecca probably like "man...they really can't handle their kids

4Runner is packed up and all that's left is tossing snacks/drinks into the ice chest tomorrow morning and we're off to go camping.

We'll be gone until Sunday, though most of the family will leave Saturday morning.

Oh I need to find out when exactly but we're planning a trip to Sea World in December just before we head out to Vegas.

It's amazing just how many trips, both out of town or camping even, now that I'm only going to school.

    Yeah.

I need to remind myself often "just takes experience, just takes experience, just takes experience..." and develop that muscle memory.

I'm thinking about stitching my root weld; I can't lay stringers for shit but I can stitch like crazy.
