This is a mod I will definitely be doing. I also had a Fumoto Valve on my Subaru and loved it. Took a little longer to drain but not a single drop of oil spilt. The fact that someone made the mod to put the filter on top is also so effin cool. That was probably the only thing I truly enjoyed about my Subaru. lol. Not sure how much a Fumoto Valve will protrude on this setup, but my guess is it'll be fine. I already ordered the F133N - which is the one with the long nipple so I can attach the hose to it. Lets be honest here, if something is going to break this thing off, you should be running skid plates.

I just changed my oil for the first time with this spin on relocation setup. NO TOOLS were used or harmed during the change. I have the short Fumoto nipple and it remains tucked up under the skid plate by an inch or so.

For anyone who doesn’t already change their own oil but wants to- this is the setup you want. You do however need to be a little mechanically inclined to install the relocation kit BUT if you are within a couple of hours from CT I’d be happy to lend you a hand. I’m sure there are other helpers willing to help out around the country too!

Most important thing to get RIGHT will be the AN fitting connections to the braided hose. The actual filter adapter that gets installed where your filter housing currently is would be difficult to get that install wrong- I think my mechanically inept friend Jon could even do it. Now that I see that in print I’m not so sure, lol.

When did the Baxter spin on adapter go up to $245? I thought they were $200. Guess I'll stick to the cartridge filter.

The extra $45 over the next 100,000 miles and twenty (20) oil changes translates to $2.25 per change.

Yeah I don't think I'll have the truck that long. Thanks for putting a positive spin on it. Pun intended

I also get that fact that we all have personal limits on our disposable income and this isn’t a necessity- it’s a luxury. Of course I ONLY type rationally. My spending habits is proof of that

So, I have a disability that limits my mobility, mostly on my right arm, leg and stuff like reaching into crevasses under the engine bay. I can change my own oil with something like the Fumoto valve, and spin the filters off if they are easy to get to, but installing something like this might be an issue. Does anyone have a full video of an install? Maybe I overlooked it. Also, what WIX (or nappa) filters does it use? I still have plenty of 0w-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum available but I'll have to invest in filters.

If you YouTube Baxter Performance you will find a couple of videos. The easy part is installing the Baxter adapter. You will likely find, as most of us have, the best place to install the spin on adapter is up on the radiator firewall, not really a firewall but that’s the best I can come up with at the moment, jut to the outboard passenger side. You should find my pics in this thread of what all this looks like.

The filter in my pics is a Amsoil EA15K51. I now have a NAPA PFL 41393. Much larger/taller filter. It fits!

Someone please educate me: the small amount of oil that drains out of the spin-on filter in the relocation version, it drains back into the oil pan?

With extra oil lines, taller oil filters doesn't the oil pump gets strained?...just curious.
    Thanks

Yes. If you slowly spin-off the inverted filter just to the point of the gasket releasing its vacuum to the base plate all of the oil retained in the filter will drain back down through the braided line, through the adapter and into the pan.

When I changed my oil last week for the first time with this setup I first drained the pan and then released vacuum and subsequently the filter and found a new stream of oil escaping the pan through the Fumoto.

Good question. I have no empirical evidence that the pump is not strained but can feel the oil is immediately injected up into the relocated filter through its continuous ramping up in temperature.

So there is a "catch basin" of some depth to sequester the draining oil that sends it to the drain hose and back to the oil pan? I am familiar with the Subaru setup as we have owned two.

I wouldn’t characterize it as a catch basin. I would call it simply a pass through adapter. I don’t know how it passes back up through the port just above where the OEM filter cartridge sits.

For anyone who may be curious I filled up using 6.6 quarts last week with my Baxter relocation configuration using a NAPA PFL 41393 filter. That one is a fairly large filter. Also using 5-6 feet of braided fuel line between the remotely located spin-on filter mount and adapter.

So, I have a '22, but I assume it would be the same since their website only goes up to '20.

I am going to purchase everything I need, but the inverted is not available until Feb '22. I assume the multi port is okay? They do have that one available right now. Does it come with hoses or do I need to buy my own? The only difference between the two is the multi port allows for use of either side or bottom ports, right?

So I get the Cartridge to remote adapter and the inverter. Then just the WIX 51085 (or Nappa gold/premium if they have them, same deal).

But man, both those are $500 total. I might just be okay with getting the spin on adapter, because I was planning on throwing a super charger up top and not sure how much room I need for that. But that won't happen for at least another 6 or 7 months until Summer - if it ever comes back...

Anyways, thanks for all the help here. I'll probably just bit the bullet next month on this one, so I hope I am going the right direction here. If it does not come with hoses, can someone steer me in the right direction for those and fittings?

Interesting. On the baxter site it says WIX 51085 which is 1085 from Nappa. Why the bigger filter? And dayumm... 6.6 quarts is a lot. My old 06 F150 was 7 quarts, but my last Subaru was like 4.7 (same with gas, was like filling half the tank on the tacoma). How much oil is it when left stock? 6 quarts?

I went with the TR-102-BK and used the side ports. Hose and AN fittings don’t come with it. I’ll get you the fitting and hose info shortly.
