I uploaded cut/bend dxf files in the google drive folder. I also added a note for "instructions"

Unfortunately my little oven (literally a toaster oven) won't fit the full length arms, but everything else should work in there!

I called CVT for interior dimensions, he was able to tell me that the 99" awning comes in a box that is 11"x10" so should be plenty of room.

Sweet. The Pioneer awning that this cover is for says its 105 x 7 x 5 when closed. So should fit great - overall size of the pivot is about 5-3/4" x 3-3/4".

Great write up and great design. Been thinking about this for the next project! I want to attempt an aluminum version and probably will make a similar cantilever box with welded aluminum plate. You did it right and I think that is a good idea with the pivot clash as the arm stops.

I also think that (at least for me) I want the awning to be easily removable with pip-pins at the 80/20 bars. Not sure yet how to do that and I think there will be a lot of hand fab in the future! Hope to post pics!

This is really cool! Been shopping around for an awning for awhile but this might be my next project instead! I’m eager to see how it packs up in the bag.

Bag gets delivered Friday, and I'm ready to mount at that point as long as it fits. Hoping I'll have some time to get it up and snap a few pics. Once it's all done and detailed, I'll write a more thorough walkthrough. I'm sure there'll be a couple things that need buttoned up and thought through.

Man, a quick release would be rad. Excited to see what you come up with. Maybe a top hook/catch with a spring plunger to lock/unlock in place.

    Something like

So the CVT bag wasn't even close to big enough. Plenty long, but not wide enough to zip up - it's only 13" wide unzipped and laid flat, and I need about another 4-5" to wrap around the main bracket. Bummer, hopefully the ARB bag is bigger, if not I may have to sew my own.

Dang! Mine just showed up today too!

The ARB one has to be bigger if it fits over the bracket that OverlandUnderBudget made

Hopefully. Although his pivot isn't as tall - I think his is only like 3"

If we decrease the height, would that potentially help it fit?

I definitely like the idea of the whole thing fitting in the CVT bag. Plus, I think the ARB bag will likely be the same size since it is a roll up awning.

The bag is 13" wide when laid flat, so if you can drop the height to make that work, go for it. Can't speak to how rigid that'll be, but he seemed to make it work.

So I found this bag for $50. It's more expensive - I could definitely make my own for less - but not sure it's worth the effort. I don't really want to keep buying bags and losing money on return shipping haha. The dimensions on the specific awning this is for on the brand's site makes me think it'll work. My bracket is 3-5/8" x 5-34" (including bolt head and nut), and the listed dimensions are below. I'll try to get in touch with a rep for the brand and hopefully get some confirmed dimensions of the bag.

I think that one is a lot more likely to work since it's made for an actual 270!

That was my thought. I'll wait until the ARB comes to rule that one out before I buy a third haha. At least this trial will give future builders confirmation. I don't really like the branding of this one, but whatever, its their product. This one may be on backorder as well.

Ended up cancelling the ARB bag order - my coworker actually has one on his van, and there was no way it was going to fit. I ended up buying some vinyl coated polyester and some #10 zipper chain from Rockywoods so I'll sew my own. All black, no branding. I won't box the ends, just a clamshell style. After the tent and tarp, this'll be a piece of cake. I'll sew in the straps as well.

    Update once it's complete.
