Chances North America sees a diesel Ranger is pretty much zero.

Overall I like the look but the launch video is super heavy on marketing wank. They added bed rails like Tacoma, and Nissan have had for years, and a bumper step like the Colorado. Is anyone not doing an outlet in the bed at this point?
If we see a diesel it will be the 3ltr turbo V6 along with a small turbo petrol motor like is current.

I like it but won't be trading in my Tacoma anytime soon.

I doubt that Toyota would bring a small displacement diesel to the US. Quite frankly if you need a diesel here it's because you haul/tow heavy often. The full size market has that on lock.
Nobody here wants a small diesel because it's considered underpowered.
Nissan had it right when they redesigned the Frontier, it's a lifestyle vehicle first and foremost. Perusing TW says as much.
I'm not hating' mind you. Just that as enthusiasts we aren't building bad ass work trucks.

I doubt it. Australia still uses a lot more diesel than north America does. My wife drives a Tesla. After driving it I don't think I can ever buy a non ev again, it just needs to be a truck. Her little suv makes almost 500ft/lbs at 0 RPMs. There is only 1 gear in the transmission. Step on the gas and it just goes. On top of that EVs like Rivian have tank steer.

Toyota has stated they are going to be releasing an EV truck soon. With a total of 15 different models being all EV by 2025. My money says the first truck will be a Tacoma.

I totally want a coal powered car like Tesla, depending on the source of the electricity, living in a cold climate area ware we have 4 months of sub freezing weather a year makes it seam like a great deal to limit range of travel/freedom to the type of car you have. To less than 300 miles by setting it up based on the choice you make, I can't wait till we have electric airplanes. At the rate we are blindly diving into ev cars I would like to see technology advance to the point the drive wheels would generate power to charge the batteries as you drive. That way would be the best option for ev to go.

I concur with nholdman59, and have no idea why they haven't incorporated the re-generation of power into the drive wheels...
We used to generate power to the headlamps on our bicycles via the spinning tires way way back a long time ago ...

That being said, I would bet a crisp $1.00 that you'll see an all electric Tacoma before you'll see diesel.
