Mine with 270k miles were fine when i pulled them. If yall plan to tackle this, mark all the cams with a silver sharpie, and hit the bolts with a little PB blaster for a day or two before yall pull them. That should make things very easy

A little something every chance we get.
The ONLY time we have lost power, was when it was dark and stormy anyway. We never lost it during Uri (Snowmageddon). My system is sized to offset use during the day - it probably contributes 90% of the daytime power. At night, or when it's otherwise dark, we are city power. It was put in to cut the bill, not for back up. During Uri, the cells were covered with ice and 4" of snow. Would have done nothing for us. But we never lost power. I thought of putting heating cables up there, but with the low slope of the roof, it would take a mile of them.

Now a battery on the solar can take some charge during the day - eventually they would be a full charge. I do believe that this is a controllable rate, and am thinking the discharge can be controlled too. This is something that could be in the thick book - I never looked.

Any of this electrical would be permit required, licensed electrical IN Lockhart. My problem with finding a solar group is similar to the Generator search - no one wants to come here for small (<10K) work, when there are rich people with big houses in Austin and SA that want 30K units. And, for the solar, adding to an existing is making it less desirable. Eventually, I will find someone.

That's what Chris did, and it didn't even take blaster. My underside stuff is really in pretty good shape. And now, a lot of it has been Spray Cleaned (black!) Oh yeah - the new ones are the SPC bolts that Brandon gave me for some reason!

Have a great long Weekend and Thanksgiving bud!

This is something that I have noticed over the past few years, when a company is small they are willing to do whatever to get business and serve everyone equally. When they get larger they then weed out the smaller stuff as they don't want to bother with it but they should as word of mouth will tend to transfer more with the little jobs. Much like people who move up in ranks/job positions they forget where they came from and don't recall what they used to do that made them what they are today.

The transfer switch will feed from ginny or solar, but not both.

Thinking I need to transfer Generator ONLY. Battery def connects through inverter, and it's "always on". Battery would just be like more cells, except how they are controlled. This would make the transfer switch need much smaller.
Yes, I'm fully prepared to shed load to more essential items in case of outages. Think of the battery as "normal back up", and the generator as "emergency". The right size battery will be the key in "normal backup".

The manual is on line, so I only have to dig through that. If you think I can use a lot of words, read a Euro tech manual!

Very true Kurt. I keep a spare ready for my rental property. I also have a small 800 to take camping with me and I have the newest HF 1800 that I take with me to the lease.

All the little plants are in and sheltered, even though we should be OK at least a week or so. Big ones will follow.
I know some of you have or are hitting the road, so wishing you ALL a Happy, and safe, Thanksgiving!
