Recap - my truck was stolen 3 weeks ago and I had this F150 for 2 weeks. I returned it today because I’m leaving for a week on vacation. My truck is at the dealership for repairs as it was located in a damaged state. If it’s not ready when I get back, I basically begged the rental car company to get me an SUV or car next time.

Thoughts - I used this for my work commute so repeating the exact same route that I did with my Tacoma. Tacoma averaged about 18.5 mpg, F150 13.5mpg. Maybe towing the fuel economy is better or equivalent but for what I do with my truck 99.99999% of the time the Tacoma gets 37% better mileage and at the price of gas today that means something to me.

2.7L Ecoboost power. I had read people on here saying how it has all kinds of power. I don't get that. Sure there seemed to be more there than the Tacoma but nothing shocking or surprisingly powerful there at all. Definitely not like my old V8 F150 or my 318 Dodge trucks.

And lastly, its a behemoth. Its just so damn big. Not at all easy to maneuver like my Taco.

Just made me thankful that I didn't buy a full size and hope my truck is back soon.

Size is a big reason I love my taco. I can whip that bitch into spaces and tight trails so much easier.

You think the f-150 felt big....try test driving a new tundra....feels like your piloting a ship.

Agree. I went from a 2015 Dodge Power Wagon Crew Cab with 6' bed to Taco. Parking is soooo much easier.

You sure they didn't give you the NA V6 rental?

Fuel econ rating is basically the same as Tacoma and Fuelly shows basically the same real world fuel econ as Tacoma. Also the 2.7 tests a full second faster than Tacoma 0-60 and faster than their V8. Other possibility is that it's a rental so who knows what state the engine is in.

Nobody talks about the 2.7. its the 3.5 that is powerful for that size truck. I miss the size of my f150 in the interior. I never had a problem parking it at all. Just as easy for me to park it as the Tacoma. Maybe the Tacoma I can fit into smaller spaces but that's not a big deal to me

I drove a 2018 F150 with a 2.7 for 2.5 years before trading for my Tacoma. The power of that engine is amazing, much more power than the Tacoma. I had 33in Firestone M/T’s on it and averaged 18-18.5 mpg. Wasn’t a huge fan of the 10 spd transmission though.

It appears you haven't driven a big ride.

My college ride was a '71 Buick Electra 225. Any GM car from the 70s is bigger than most modern pickups.

I recall buying a front load washer and dryer, White Westinghouse, at an auction while in college. Put both the washer and dryer in the trunk and CLOSED THE LID.

But, yeah, ecoboost = turbo = maintenance = power lag....... My wife's Honda CR-V has a toy engine, 1.5L, with a turbo. When you step on the throttle...there is a moment when the engine seems to say, "Now?" Funny thing, the Honda Goldwing has a 1.8L engine.

It was great for towing but mine was jerky in the first 5 gears.

2.7s are nice the 3.5s feel more powerful.

Behemoth? All though a fullsize 1/2 ton isn't as agile, or fun to drive as a midsize pick up. I don't think I'd call it a behemoth. They are the perfect size truck for a soccer mom.

I’m surprised it got worse mpg than your Taco. I had a ‘19 F150 crew cab with the 2.7 and I would get 18-19 mpg. I’m averaging 16 mpg in my Taco.

I’ll take the Taco any day since it fits my lifestyle a lot better. Plus I’m not worried about the transmission grenading like I was with the F150. There were times it would downshift so hard that passengers would think we got rear-ended.

I bought one, drove it on a 2k mile trip, then sold it to Carvana for $3k more than I paid for it just a month before.

    Wadda deal.

nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
I'm jumping from 2021 taco to 2022 tundra, maybe? (Have deposit down at kfalls toyoda)
Set to arrive in early Jan

If it's too big, imma stick w/ papa surf
I was concerned it would require primo gas, but it seems 87 is Kool

If someone knows more about the type of gas the 2022 tundras twin turbo v6 will require, please chime in!
(This could be a huge deal breaker for me if in fact the new tundra needs 91....I drive way too many miles to throw away $ on premium fuel ⛽)
