Battery replace/upgrade

Autozone (Duralast)batteries are good and easily replaced with stores across the country.

 

Optima red top but quality has gone down...first one lasted only 9 months...got a warranty replacement...hecho in mexico

 

Yeah, but their not what they use to be. Last 2 i had were junk. Idk, if these batteries are built today using more eco friendly materials, but they don't last like years ago. I recently bought a deka for my tractor last spring to replace the wally world everstart that was almost a year old before it just went tapioca not being able to accept a charge. I was able to get another everstart from wally world in warranty that i'll give to my brother, but i'm not holding my breath its going to be any better.

 

Not really their gold edition just made it barely past the warranty period in my brothers van. Seems so far the die hard, and deka have been the best around here.

 

How does Walmart confirm date of purchase or whatever they would need if you had a warranty claim? I HATE holding on to receipts.

 

The date of manufacture is on their batteries. I was pissed the two i bought failed. One was their el'cheapo for around $70 with only a 90 day warranty. It didn't make it 8 months.

 

I got the Walmart everstart Maxx . Project farm on YouTube did a good video on stress tests and Walmart was right up there with the name brand batteries.

 

Understand that. I keep receipts that need to be kept with the vehicle examples, battery and tire lifetime balance n rotation, in a plain envelope in the glove compartment.

I bought a DC to DC battery charger for the AGM batteries in my truck camper. The unit came with a thin wire and instructions that it should be connected to a vehicle equipped with a smart alternator in order to get the maximum voltage output to AGM batteries. The truck is a '91 Dodge diesel, so it does not have a smart alternator. The AGM batteries still get a charge, just not the maximum possible.

I got the X2 power from battery plus bulbs. It was the strongest group 27f battery I could find. 92 amp hours 930 cold crank amps.

You guys can quote all the articles you like. Bottom line is 10 minutes after shutdown, my AGM battery reads 12.9~13.1(dependent on temp), and that's fully charged.

The only thing higher voltage would do, is get it fully charged faster. Totally unnessasary to run higher voltage.

 

Is it though? Shorter trips.

 

I'm going with a 27F Toyota Truestart OEM battery when my24F org. battery dies. Going on 4 years, no issues and I have about 20K miles, drive short trips and might drive it once a week. I do put it on a battery tender every 3 or 4 months since I bought my truck in Feb. 2018. I got the new 2nd gen tray from the dealer and for $!20 and a pretty good warranty I'm good to go. My understanding the Toyota battery is made by Johnson Control who make Interstate batteries. I'm sticking with an OEM battery.

 

The Shortest drive I make is 25 minutes.

 

My brother got his die hard battery at advanced auto parts. He bought the duralast gold 3 year battery at auto zone. I question how fresh the duralast battery was that auto zone sold him. Seems i hardly ever see anyone shopping at that store.
