I have no doubt that an electric motor is less comple than electronically controlled ice.

Vehicles, modern vehicles have so many systems HVAC, infotainment, airbags seatbelts, semi autonomous driving aids. All of which are not necessary for a vehicle to perform it's intended purpose, transport from point A to point B. Plus all of the things I have forgot to mention.

I'm still stumped if an EV powered modern vehicle is more or less complex than an ice powered vehicle.

Just comparing the electric motor to an ice, the EM is less complex than a computer controlled ICE. Mix in the features of a modern vehicle, and I would say an EV, is only marginally less complex than a ICE vehicle.

That magin could drop substantially once EV prove to be more complex than we think they are.

the complexity of modern vehicles isn’t inherited to EVs though. You can have those things on a gas car or you can not have them on an electric.

If you were to electrify a Tacoma the end result would have fewer components then the gas truck you started with. It would also have fewer electronic bits.

    Yeah, I don’t get it.

I grew up around diesel, and operated heavy equipment there for awhile. Kinda over it, grown to not like the smell, probably because I would come home smelling like diesel for years. Wish there was a diesel Tacoma there for a bit, mainly for the torque and mpgs. Pretty sure an EV will fill that void. Torque from an electric motor will flat out smoke a diesel, will no longer have to worry about mpgs. If they can get the range 300-400 miles, be perfect. My last truck I could barely get 250-260 miles out of it, and I made that work for the last 19 years.

Yes if it was an EV SR and not a EV TRD with advanced tech pkg.

Tesla in the bench mark of EV where all manufacturers are trying to copy Tesla. Where everything ls electrified.

How many EV have the door handles incorporated into the vehicle control unit? Why that isn't necessary? Neither is autonomous driving and around view cameras.

I don't think an EV Tacoma will be with out either of those things.

Whats that new MBZ EV that looks like two wedges of cheese placed back to back?

Is that MBZ less complex than it's ice counterpart.

Oh good another one of these threads, a Thanksgiving day simulation for those who don't have family to fight with.

two pages before two hours iirc. Might be a new record

edit: brake not break, fu and your autocorrect

I don't think I've gotten anyone, merely an observer here. Now stop tagging me, you're ruining the scientific authenticity of the simulation.

I'm the OP, and this was hilarious and made my day - "Oh good another one of these threads, a Thanksgiving day simulation for those who don't have family to fight with."

Loved that one, and all the rest too. All good and pretty entertaining.

My favorite was the guy complaining about why this EV thread was on the 3rd gen forum. What's more important to me is where the hell did I put that walla walla onion I was going to cook up and add to my beer smokie hot dog tonight. That has me concerned as much as EV vehicles taking over the world. We're all gonna die in crosswalks, we won't hear them coming.

Is a walla walla sweet good for that? I like a good sharp onion on a hot dog

Because electric vehicles aren't better than gas in every way right now, I think the entire idea should be scrapped.
