Evap purge valve or charcoal canister?

 

The inside of the bed is almost unbearable. You can see the rear of the bed in this photo and how terrible it is. When I did the fuel pump I took a sledge hammer to the bed to get it off the back of the cab. The outside is pretty beat up too, but not as bad as the inside and the gap between the tailgate is substantial. I don't think a drop in bed-liner will fix my issue. Thanks though



Also, I add ditch lights today, just need to wire them up. You know Thanksgiving and all I had to entertain people and not just work on the truck.

 

Already changed out the canister. Could be the valve. Idk.

 

Usually, if it clicks when filling up it is the purge valve or the canister. I would change out the vale and see if that makes a difference. Do you have any CEL on?

The purge valve on top of the tank will be my next thing. Just sucks I have to replace it.

 

It absolutely does, 4 bolts to pull the bed off might be the easiest way to do it. It will get gummed up like a diff breather and will not allow gasses to vent and will make it a PITA to fill up.

edit: 6 bolts holding the bed on!

 

I hope you have 6 bolts holding your bed on, otherwise you’re missing a couple.

 

I now only have five bolts.

Hate removing it but will have to. Always seem to break the nuts in the bed.

 

We do them without bed removal all the time at work.

 

I bet that’s gonna be even more fun in about a month

 

Already in the 20s so not exactly fun right now. But 40° lower to go..

 

I don’t even like turning my truck off to fill it when it starts getting cold asf.

Found out that my parasitic draw problem was connected to my intermittent airbag light. Opened up the control module to find the capacitor died and killed some other things too. Found a used srs control module locally for $50 from a 97. After replacing the capacitors no more dead batteries and no more airbag light.
