Door Ding is driving me crazy!

New to TW and looking for help with 2021 Tacoma.
When I turn truck off and open drivers door it starts beeping. It makes feel like I’m forgetting something. Can’t figure it out!

I tried Carista and their customer support.

Pressing and releasing
the toggle in the frame when the door is open turns it off. But that’s only good if I’m planning on leaving the door open.

Welcome to Tacomaworld. Are your Headlights switched to the on position? They truck will let you know they are on but will eventually shut them off.

 

When it’s beeping, look under the dash to find it and unplug it

 

Do you open the driver's door and THEN shut it down? If you do that it will bing at you every time. Shut it down, then open the door, and it won't bing. Unless of course your lights are on.

 

is your sunroof open?

 

I currently own three Toyotas and they are the most dingy cars I have ever had. Most of the time you cannot even tell what it is dinging for.

I was under the impression that Carista could shut the various dings off, to even include the seatbelt warning. If it isn’t Carista tech stream may

 

Carista can shut off your seat belt dinger but the key in ignition/door open no.

2nd gens you could disable it if you had the gauge cluster out for an led swap - I’m not sure where the 3rd gen noisemaker is but if I recall it’s more labor intensive to remove altogether

?? My 2021 tacoma never dings at me. It does one long beep on start up and thats it. Do you not wear a seatbelt or something? What would the car even ding for?

 

I'm pretty sure the Toyota Tech stream software can make the changes you want.

I own my own copy and have turned off the dings and turned down the key minder to the lowest setting(that tone comes from the factory at its highest setting).

 

As far as I know there isn't anyway to turn this one off. I also push the button on the door pillar anytime my door is going to be open for any length of time after I shut off the truck. Unfortunately there is nothing in Carista or Techstream that shuts off the annoying beep, at least not in my 2021.

 

My door ding is also driving me nuts. Some a-hole dinged my door on a parking lot. Wait... you're talking about door chime?!

 

Have you tried turning your Taco off (headlights off or on Auto) BEFORE unlatching the door?
Works on my '21 TRD OR.

 

Yeah these things beep and ding like crazy. Super annoying.

 

nope, always wear the seatbelt

between the three they are always making sound. The kids Prius is usually the headlights being on (no auto lights). My truck I think I open the door before shutting the key off all the way. The push button start on the Highlander I know I push the button at the same time as I pull the door handle. It also dings if one of the kids unbuckls, a rare thing but not unheard of.

Obviously my fault in all cases but still always making noise

 

Thanks for the thoughts. I have lights on auto and no sunroof and turn the truck off take my seatbelt off before opening door.

What is this high tech you suffer for?

 

When mine beeps, it displays something in the cluster screen. But that only happens if the sunroof is left open. And it may also happen if the windows are down.

 

Can someone inform me how to remove a thread when I’m done. Thanks
