New camp spot on a mountain pass at 9,400ft. Wood stove working out great.

For those building out their own Kimbo, Dometic just announced a very simple & compact water tank system for a sink that has a USB charged automatic faucet. I might upgrade to this instead of the pump.

Is there anyone who has purchased the shower option that Kimbo offers? It looks a little tight, and I haven't actually seen it in action, so I'd be curious to hear anyone's experience with it!

Interesting - if I'd have seen this a bit earlier, might have tried it...until our noisy option gets unbearable, we'll have to wait on this one.

    Thanks for sharing!

One more update: Jim just reached out and said we are a couple weeks away from them assembling #160, so stoked. Aside from this, he also mentioned that they now offer a side snowboard rack option for an additional $600. I don't think it's possible because of the ladder, but i would like this on the left side of the rig so the boards don't block the window.

    Hello Kimbo Fam,

So we had a blast in Colorado, spent a week livin in the Kimbo up at Copper Mountain, CO. The Dickenson heater kept us really warm and we were able to ski our brains out, I was banging gates at a masters ski race camp and we also did some free skiing at A Basin. The gym pass helped with showers since I didn't think using the outdoor Joolca shower was well advised, mostly because the pipes may freeze and burst. The biggest issue we had was with the fridge, it drains the battery when it tries to stay cold while we try and stay warm with the heater. I know I could pull the fridge out of the camper and it would have kept cold, but its a bit of a pain to pull it out and put it back all the time and I was trying to keep a low profile around the parking lot and felt that the fridge outside might have given off too much of a cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation movie vibe. It sounds like Kimbo corporate is installing propane powered fridges into the Kimbos again. I am wondering if the install myself would be advised. Happy to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. Keep on truckin!IMG-3112.jpg

So the solar couldn’t hack keeping the fridge running?

Yeah, I’ve got 150 watts of solar with a yeti 400 power station chained to another 400 watt battery, so it’s 800 watts of battery total. The fridge pulls the power down to about 20% and then I turn off the fridge cause I don’t want to loose all power and not have my lights, heater fan and propane sniffer. If I had a propane powered fridge I think I’d be better off than an electric fridge, but I’m also interested to hear if other electric fridge users are fine and my fridge is ineffective at keeping things cool.

So I picked up my Kimbo yesterday (#148) only a few days after the promised date when I ordered it in April. 2021 Tacoma with airbags and larger 265/75R16 tires. The Kimbo has all the options except shower and AC. I got the 2nd solar panel, Maxair fan and rotopack.....the pickup took about 1 1/2 hours with a plant tour and instructions from Colin and Jim on operating of things. They are doing about 10 Kimbo's a month and still are challanged with components such as batteries, stoves, fridge etc.....Teak entrance is no long obtainable so they went with bambo which is just as nice....10-11 hour drive from Bend OR thanks to holiday Seattle traffic . Quality is outstanding as expected. Those of you who have Kimbos on order, feel free to reach out to me with any questions on state of affairs or if you want to take a look at mine.....cheers......Boydog (Craig)

just mix 99% humidity and below 40 degrees Celsius and it can be mounted anywhere…doesn’t use any electricity either, just perform a cold start on the truck
