Pedal Commander void warranty??

EXACTLY. I installed Sprint Throttle Booster, and have taken my truck to the dealer twice for the two recalls this year, and I didn't even bother to take out the booster. They didn't care about it.

 

While this is technically true, that's a rabbit hole you want to avoid. What would actually happen is your tech and service writer would refuse to repair under warranty because of the mod. If going to management at the dealership and/or contacting Toyota don't change that result, the only two alternatives you have left are to hire an attorney or pay for the repair out of pocket (or pay for the repair because you need the truck, then hire the attorney). Having three attorneys in the family, one of them being a partner who is head of litigation for a large firm, I can pretty much guarantee you that the first retainer check you write them will probably immediately exceed the cost of the repair.

That was intense haha. Thanks for sharing. I agree with what he’s saying especially since I don’t have 10k to throw down for a repair let alone a lawyer. I’m definitely gonna ask a few friends who have installed a similar mod and see if the dealership has ever flagged them. If I can get away with it from just unplugging it I’m willing to risk it. Also have you ever heard of Hawaii’s Lemon Law? I live in Hawaii so it might be of help

If I were going to do this I would look at the Pedal Monster. It's powered off the OBDII port rather than the accelerator plug, and it won't leave you without power to the pedal if it fails. They also state it leaves no footprint if removed.

Unfortunately I don't know about the HI lemon law. I live in FL

 

Well, the SC is about 5 grand and a lifetime of headaches of having to run a higher octane gas and eventually has to be rebuilt.
The kd max tune is a one time thing (typically, updates/revisions can cost extra) at about $300.00. Its hidden in the software and not detectable so far, unlike the pedal commander and the like.
Since you live on the islands and only have servco as a stealership, I would want nothing in view, or delectable by them.

 

Respectfully; with what you've already done, I can't imagine you're just now worried about how mods affect warranty work.

As @FL_TRD Sport mentioned, your warranty is only as good as your local dealership.

Why?

 

I have a manual Tacoma and I made some changes in my shift habits and I am now happy without the SB. Seeing as how it’s not a cheap item I am selling the thing I no longer feel I need. See post for additional details.

I got something like this for my 2006 Nissan Xterra, and i honestly noticed zero change.

 

My '02 Frontier V-6 didn't need one either, it accelerated fine. My '14 Tacoma 2.7 auto is helped a lot by Sprint Booster.
