If by no one you mean millions of dollars of research trying to create lithium free batteries.

What about the ecological desaster of mining oil sands? I don't think there is any easy way forward here.

No, he's saying the amount of electricity is equal to the engine output, he's saying that the fuel pump draw could equal the amount of power needed to move an EV given there increased efficiency. It's not enough but not that crazy of an idea. Tacoma fuel pump maxes out at at 20amps. At 14.4v, this is 288watts or roughly 0.4hp.

Can't speak for all EVs but Tesla's now use explosive fuses to disable the batteries. I think our grand kids or grand grand kids will look back and think we were crazy for driving around in vehicles full of liquid flammables. Cell phones also used to have problems with burning up and starting house fires or burning people's pants. Engineers will find a solution.

Dude, did you know the commute for ND people, on average, is something badass like 17 minutes? I just learned this.

Thats just the circuit max safe load rat
    Averages, how do they work?

My comment was a sarcastic, asshole-like observation on the poorly written, lazily researched internet diarrhea that is constantly posted on this sub-forum. There are like a dozen Ford Ranger threads on here and every couple weeks someone will start another one with mostly irrelevant info in the 3rd Gen sub-forum instead of the OT sub-forum, or a Ranger forum. *gasp*

Maybe it's just lazy selfishness? IDK. These threads are a dumpster fire from the start so the trolling, useless comments, etc are not really taking away from anything.

Anyone that hasn't owned a diesel thinks they're maintenance free and the petro is cheaper.

Yeah it's not not bad but we have some drivers that make it the worst 17-20 minutes of your life. It's really fun to to follow someone who will enter the freeway at 25mph because they have no clue that the on ramp is really an exceleration Lane. Now that it's getting icy when someone pulls out into a traffic moving 55-65 forcing everyone behind to swerve into the poor f like me or the person besides them and cause a 5 car pile up. I would rather drive in a metro area mlps , not LA, San Diego or Frisco were a little better. 10yrs ago. Been many times I have had to be locked in 4 Hi and had by St Christopher metal with my cross in hand.

The maintenance on mine is pretty simple, replace fuel filters every 45-55k, add DEF, oil change is basically the same as using fancy oil in a Tacoma, in my areas the diesel is always a little cheaper than gas, and there's the MPG factor, over the last 7500km my ZR2 with front and rear locking diffs, fantastic suspension has average about 9.7L/100km, that's highway, city, trails and lots of idling while camping. But.. it did cost more up front. The emissions systems in new north american diesels is a shit show also. I am slowly falling out of love with mine due to a few emissions issues. Kind of like dating a stripper, high performance, lots of fun, occasional outbursts and dumb shit!
