We were just out in the area. Wish I'd known about this, two hours from where we stayed.

    Thanks !

Appreciate it. I actually hate night photog prob because I am not very good at it but I was out there sitting around waiting for a possible northern lights show that was supposed to happen but never showed up

Getting the settings right is tricky - setting up to shoot infinity is tricky too because the
far right ( or left ) usually isn't true. I setup by going into live view, focus on 1 star, increase
magnification to make sure it's right, fiddle with infinity setting until it is clean, and leave that
setting alone. Then setup ISO and timer and foreground. Taking multiple shots of same foreground
background where both are sharp ( 1 will be a bit out of focus on each ) and then focus-merge in
Pshop ( or affinity for me ) to get both items sharp.

Typical settings for me are ISO 1600 for 15~20 seconds at F1.8~F2.8.
When you get into F3.5+ (it can be done) you don't get as good of an image.

I love it... but missed this season of getting 'out' due to all kinds of stuff.

Cool image - my Nikon has some 'special' settings that can create images like this - how did you get the image.

    I’m artsy fartsy.

Show me some of your Nikon stuff. I don’t have photography skills it was all the technology in the iPhone.
