I'm all in at this point. 4 runner, tear drop trailers, my wife may divorce me Dec 1st. I've tried to sleep in this Tacoma, doesn't work.

You will all hate me for saying this. Some days I love my truck more than my wife.

Peaks and Valleys my friend. My wife has been with me since the same month she turned 18...in England 1989. I won't tell you she was 17 for a couple of weeks!

    We married in 1990.

She was quite shy at first but through the years has become quite the strong/vocal woman. I take her upbringing into consideration plus my reactions during our disagreements have never been great. I'll apologize now as this is like a therapy session spilling some beans. lol

Her father passed away (1987) before I met her.
Scottish parents smoked/drank and eventually divorced (Catholic church disapproved).
She's the youngest of 8 children.

I'll stop there and let you analyze the type of life she had growing up with "hand-me-downs" and low income family.

My eldest daughter (31) has suggested both of us speak to someone about the upbringing memories (or lack there of) because it molded the way we are today.

Being set in our ways is probably a residual effect from parents who displayed such instances. You'd be surprised to learn how much of our parents are in us and HOW we displayed SOME of those traits while our kids watched.

EDIT: I don't hate you for saying what you said. It's how you feel and that has to be considered during the analysis.

Thanks for sharing. Most of the time I'm satirical, but sometimes serious. This I do know. All of the clothes she has are worth more than my truck. Secret of a great marriage.

One advantage for me buying used is that I'm cheap. I find that other people have better taste than me and an example is my 2017 TRD Off Road that I just bought. There were a few extras, like Husky floor mats, bigger tires, and a handy roof rack that I probably wouldn't have bought on my own. I'll tweak it as time goes on but I like getting a few nice surprises. The 4wd system is what I really needed due to the nasty roads I have to drive every week. Only a few regrets in my life buying used vehicles, with the most notable one being the extended Dodge Caravan "woody" mini-van. Ugh!

I'm sure you paid a good chunk of change for your 2017 OR...you're not cheap, just not willing to spend more than you have to.

You got what you needed living in an area that requires 4X4 traction.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
You should get this. I have several Toyota trucks, out of all the land cruisers and runners I got, the new Taco most definitely needed a tune. I got the tune and it changed the truck in a huge way. Really gave this truck a small pair of balls, where as before it was confused if it had a pair! Grab the tune and get some balls back is what I am saying!

Here is an explanation video that turned me away from doing this option. I have the extended warranty and shying away from KDMAX.

This upgrade can potentially void any factory warranties and may or may not be legal in your state. I'm satisfied with the performance of my Sport but everyone has their own specific needs.

This line of thinking is kinda like not smashing your girlfriend so she's nice and tight for the next guy.

P.S. you can always flash back to stock before going back to the dealer (if you're the worrying type).....

The dealership literally has no way to detect if your truck has a tune or not. As far as warranty work goes, it won't void anything as standard procedure for anything ecu related is for the dealership to flash it to the latest update (which would overwrite the tune anyway)

    Alright fellas...point taken.

My decision NOT to take this route is a personal preference. I'm satisfied with the performance as it is. But then again, I'm 55 and do things differently from when I was younger.

    Hey Ed,

No offense meant and I understand your decision.

I felt the same initially, but just didn't enjoy driving it the way it performed off the lot (for the same reasons everyone gets their rig 'tuned'). After driving it on the KDMax I was a little pissed at myself for putting up with it for the first 4K+ miles. I've never looked back or regretted my decision to get her tuned. I actually enjoy driving it now. I'm soon to be 57 and now live by the 'fuckit, you only live once' mantra (especially since i'm now on the other side of the mountain heading back down).

    No offense taken!

    We're good.

I can be harsh in my daily sarcastic life (that I learned from growing up in LA in the 80s). People can be so sensitive these days...but whatever.

My status can't quite be at the "fukit" stage; I have a wife who takes an interest in my hobbies/what I do (but she won't admit to it).

We're both from totally different worlds...her growing up in England and me in SoCal/LA. Even speaking Spanish use to be an issue because she always thought I was talking about her/conspiring some craziness against her. But she's a red-head...and I have to be careful!!!

    Good chat!

EDIT: OP, apologies now for taking over your thread. I can go off on tangents and take people with me...lol! Free willing of course. lol
