I've had them come out of the box making noise LOL

Sometimes I wonder if they just hot tank it, paint, and send it out the door

I think my AutoZone ps pump is the only part from that place that my truck hasn't rejected.

 

DuraLast parts seem to be whatever is rejected from normal parts brands, theres no consistency to what you find in the boxes

Inside of that “clean” transfer case. Signs of water intake inside with random tiny rust spots. But the fact that the transfer case out of my 99 still technically worked after being full of mud water scares me. It didn’t spin “freely” but all gears spun or didn’t spin what they needed to still.

This ones output shaft will not spin no matter what gear it is in. Further disassembly required I guess.

 

That transfer case is toast. It’s a shame because some debris/water must’ve made its way in when the shifter was off under the previous owners watch. Currently stealing the rear of the case with the fill/drain plugs to replace my cracked one.

@Empty_Lord Any idea what this threadlocker looking stuff is? It’s not mentioned in the FSM or diagrams.

They're "pre-coated" hardware. They're not designated as being single use like some other hardware in the FSM. I just cleaned up the excess and bolted them back to spec.

 

Loctite likely seals it fine

The clock is an easy fix when they break, like 5 mins to get em working again

 

Not when the previous owner removed yours (or it wasn't there in the first place... not sure).

They did put a nice cell phone mount in its place though, which is more useful anyway.
