I switched to 1x11 a few years ago. It has about 70° head tube angle and I could slacken it to 68.5° with offset headset bearings … I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve slid the saddle forward recently, which may simulate a steeper seat tube angle and helps climbing, so I don’t know if kicking the head back will shorten the reach too much, especially as I’ve had a shorter than stock stem since new.

Might not be a scam, since presumably you'd bring the bike down with you on the plane. I backpacked around South America years ago. In Bolivia I did a tour and I recall the owner of the guide company saying it is crazy expensive there to import bikes because of duties, so they would sometimes ask customers coming from Europe/NA to bring a bike down for them claiming it to be a personal bike. Then get a great deal on a tour. If duties are similar in Peru then it would be expensive to get even used bikes as a charity. Both countries had some great riding but I wouldn't want to spend 2-3 months in one spot unless there was some sort of volunteer/work/teaching gig or something to keep me busy.

Got my nx drivetrain in yesterday. Got started on the conversion before going to dinner but won't be able to finish until tomorrow or Saturday since I'm headed to my parents for a couple days. I was concerned the cassette wouldn't fit on my old hub, but smarter people than me already thought it through and it sits perfect.
Now I need to figure out spacers on the crank if I need any and get a new shifter housing cable and some caps or whatever they're called.

    Dead thread lately.

Friday fails was on point this week.

Any of you folks upgrading your lights wanna sell your old setup for cheap? I honestly don’t anticipate doing much night riding so I’m being cheap about it. That and I spent my planned BF money on an unplanned deal on replacement leaf packs for the taco.

    What’s your budget?

I’d honestly suggest an o-light handlebar mount and a decent floody flashlight for the bars and then a two fish helmet mount and a flashlight with throw.

I rarely watch it. But last night after dinner and we were sitting and staring at our screens, I heard my wife laughing quietly; I glanced over and she was watching Friday Fails.

I try not to go cheap on lights. I've been using Gloworm lights for a few years and they've been great (XSV on the bar and X2 Adventure for the helmet).

    Cheap. Preferably sub $200
Normally I’d agree. Reality is I doubt I’ll put them to use too often.

I’ve got a few headlamps that have been my go to’s for night trail running. I may just rig some up on bike and give it a go before I invest in a bike specific setup.

12 quick miles this AM with a friend of mine. Found a thorn in my front tire once we were done. Already plugged and ready for the next ride.

Been night riding for years. Buddies and I used to make our own lights and have cell packs made at batteries plus back when they used to do that.

Another vote for Gloworm. My current setup is a 1200 lumen Gloworm on the bars and Fenix HM16R on the helmet. Great combo and gives me a few hours without battery anxiety. Fenix uses 18650 button top cell which can be had for about $10 so spares are easy to carry.

Let me dig through my stuff, might have something that will work for you.

You will most likely out ride the trail running lights and it will put a damper on the fun factor. It may not happen, I've been wrong before but me thinks it will happen. :)

Got the drivetrain installed. Not too hard. I should get new shift cable housing but it works as is now.
    Stems and a handlebar next?
    Or a dropper?
    Eventually a new fork maybe.
But stoked on how its coming
