For sure wheeling along the way but also doing more road trip type stuff. I know I wanna hit a good bit of Route 66 all the way to the end in CA. Wheel some in Hurricane, Moab, maybe Colorado if it’s not to snowed in. No real plans, just going. Trying to source a softtopper in time so I can stealth camp if I need to lol

Man brave soul, you going by yourself? Gas would be the only deterrent right now for that trip lol. I’d spend like 3 grand on gas alone right now lol

Yea by myself lol I’m expecting to drive 6K miles. 6000 divided by 15mpg is 400 gallons. Multiplied by avg price a gallon which is around $3 is $1,200 so I’m budgeting $1,500 to be safe. Especially in CA where is like $5 a gallon but I won’t be there long at all. Even had to buy those neutered 10rd magazines for my g19 to stay legal

Lol, now see I’d be around 10mpg and you gotta include Off-roading I’m that for me haha. But yea still still expensive! Wedding is going to squeeze the last of my savings from me basically lol. But after that I can start saving for Moab trip!

I just thought you couldn't have it loaded and it had to be in locked box. Of course no CC'ing. I didn't know we couldn't take our legal magazines.

    California gun law (uslawshield.com)

If you don’t have a California CCW, you can’t have a loaded gun. Pistols have to be unloaded and locked in a gun case. Long guns unloaded but ok to be in plain view. Interestingly enough, there are exceptions such as you can have it loaded, concealed or open, at temporary domiciles including hotels and campsites. The campsite thing is pretty interesting bc that’s when I would be most likely in need to defend myself. But there’s not a whole lot of legal wording on the campsite exception, like does it have to be at a managed campsite or could it include me pulling up on a random patch of BLM land and making my own campsite? Probably won’t push that one.

As for the 10rd mag limit, that law was actually overturned and there currently is a stay on the law meaning it is technically still illegal but you cannot be charged during this period. I’m not risking it even if it’s ok, all it takes is a cop who doesn’t know the laws and then I’m spending my vacation locked up and in court trying to prove my case lol

I don't blame you. I never plan to go into that state b/c of their views. I just assumed that since you were from a state that is more 2A friendly that the mag capacity didn't apply. I get the whole "you can't carry".....I just didn't realize it went as far as mag capacity. Could you carry your AR that doesn't have a "mag bullet button" or one of those dumbass paddle grip things?

I think any AR that isn’t California compliant would be classified as an “assault weapon” and then that has its own set of rules separate from “standard” long guns. I’m just bringing my pistol with a few 10rd mags, don’t wanna push things lol

I don't think Taurus Judges or S&W Governors are legal there either. I doubt I had a single firearm that would be CA compliant.......guess it's a good thing I lost them in a boating accident.

Lol it’s definitely the most restrictive state. New Mexico and Nevada are the other two states that will give me trouble, they do not honor AL permits but it’s not too bad. Nevada I can have it loaded as long as it’s not concealed on me, can be concealed under the seat or in bag, or open on the seat, just can’t leave the vehicle with me unless I’m open carrying which is not something I do. New Mexico I can actually have it concealed on me as long as I stay in the car. If I get out, it has to be open carry

Anybody know where I can get my fire extinguisher refilled near the Bham area? I’ve used it to put out two gasoline can fires (@Brian422 :anonymous:) and today I used the last of it on a yellow jacket nest (it didn’t work:rofl:)
