Oil pump gears making noise

Not sure why but my 3rz is making noise from the oil pump and I’m here asking for advice what the problem is. I’ve already swapped pump gears and oil pump cover and the noise is there still but different tone slightly.

 

What are you priming the oil pump with??

was there damage to the parts you removed??

What kind of oil pressure are you reading?

The oil pick up screen is clean and the tube is not sucking air ?

 

It’s running oil fine it was primed as well

 

One of the weaknesses of these 2rz/3rz is the timing cover....
Alot of times when the harmonic balance pulley goes out, it wobbles so bad it can crack the inside where the oil pump seats against the inner cover.
You always have to check for hairline crack......its hard to see...and may or maynot start leaking oil...

 

Leaking oil I don’t worry about it sounds like the pump is bouncing aodund

 

When you replaced the first pump you did inspect the oil pump housing and the timing chain cover for wear??

Then measure with the new pump the clearances were within spec??

If that was in excess I could think it might make noise

 

Everybody and his grand ma sells aftermarket timing covers for these....they must be easily damaged....

I bought one off ebay from someone who sells hundreds of them...for like under $100...
I did pull that oil pump that came with it and put in a new aisin oem one...

 

What makes you sure its the oil pump? Only asking because I have a strange noise on my 2.7 and I'm having trouble figuring out where its coming from

 

It’s from the front cover i can hear it using a stethoscope on the cover of the pump

 

I thought this was so loud you could hear it 25' away .
