My wife is the most spatially challenged person I've ever met. She can't picture things like floor plans or look at an empty bedroom and figure out if a single or a king would fit (exaggeration but not by much). But for anything medical? She knows her stuff. You won't win that one against her.

It's like my kid and this chemistry thing. I don't know where it came from and I don't understand most of it but he's enjoying it.

    Different brains.

I’ve been driving this big digger truck to Lincoln for the last 3 days, probably 35 miles one way up the highway. I filled it last night on the way home, took 15 gallons of diesel. I filled it again tonight, took 16!

You almost need to start calling it gallons to the mile at that rate!

It looks great clean but if I did that to mine right now, I wouldn't be able to open the doors until April.

48D9F6E5-2A06-4173-98D2-B7DB1D03A065.jpg The transformer I’m helping work on had some work done to it recently where the guy added drain valves to the tap changer. Well one leaked, so he took it off and was going to braze it to stop the leak. After talking with him for a bit and letting him grind off the bubble gum weld that was on there I finally convinced the field tech to let me take it home to tig it back together. First I had to Chuck it up in the lathe and peel off the old weld. What’s annoying is the pipe isn’t square with the flange, nor is it centered. I got this far with it before I realized I forgot to take a before picture. Let’s see if the old Hobart can do a better job than what was there!

For sure! I’m not sure how big this engine is, I do know it’s a Cummins in an international cab and chassis, but no idea on the size. It sounds bigger than a 6.7 but with the amount of fuel it uses it could be a 40 liter engine.

I have an old F250 with a 460 gas engine, in town it gets 7.5 mpg. You really don't realize how short a distance 7.5 miles is until a quick trip to Lowes is 4 gallons of gas...

My younger brother just bought an old airstream RV with a 460 in it. The person he bought it from said it got 10 mpg. I said maybe if they shut it off going downhill!

I’m no pipe welder but the first pass doesn’t look too terrible I don’t think. Er308 stainless filler wire. No clue if that’s what I should use but it felt right. 07CC6067-126B-4BCA-8C21-3565ABF3A34F.jpg

For sure better than a hardware store braze. I’ll let you all know if it passes the pressure test tomorrow.
