My $10 Amazon one is the one that snapped on the highway :(

I’m happy to give $50 to a mom and pop with a good product too.

After talking with Roofnest last weekend, I decided to pull the trigger on getting the Condor Overland. I bought it last night and could pick it up as early as next week. Being local to the manufacturer, its warehouse, or a distributor has its perks.

Video for the tent was released earlier today:

Since the Condor Overland is fairly symmetrical having 60”L x 54”W, I’m hoping that I can set it up to open behind the tailgate, like my current setup with the Tepui Ayer 2, without it looking weird or without having functional issues.

I have a hardshell (Desert Armor Ninja) and I absolutely cannot close it with the insulating liner kept inside — can’t imagine any tent would close properly with the liner installed, but maybe the soft shell styles are easier to work with in that regard.

I have the 23Zero version in my 23Zero Walkabout 56 and it folds up like it isn't in there. Hard shell tents seem to be less forgiving on space when trying to close them with extra items inside.

That thing is expensive as f#$k. You can but 2 rtts for that price... where do you draw the line on these tents.. Its crazy... You can do so much more with your truck with 3200 and get a $150 northface ground tent. Man. I don't get it i guess.

That’s why I didn’t want to get any of the existing rtt’s in similar price points the past couple years. If I was gonna drop that kind of dough, I didn’t want to get a hard shell tent made of plastic and/or fiberglass.

I can’t try every mod for the truck and camping/overlanding gear, so I try to be as selective as I can be and hold off till I find stuff I like. Some can build their own to save money, some buy… and sell if they don’t like it. Many ways to go about our hobbies. Just gotta find what works for you. Keeping within the laws, of course! Going looting/stealing like some people may eventually lead them to a F* around and find out situation/situations (if they live past the first time and commit the same stupidity).

I’ve been using bean tents since the 90s and they are great when your setting up camp for a few days or so, but to set up the ground tent every night just isn’t appealing to me anymore. Like the idea of pulling into a spot, opening up top of the tent, and being sleep ready in under 5. Ive set up the ground tent to many times at midnight.

I just paid $2,700 for my CVT and it hurt. Honestly, I think it's worth about $2,000 but there's a popularity premium. I'm glad to see CVT do well - it's cool to drive around Bend and see all the T4R with RTTs. Anyway, the question was hardshell vs. soft for me with ground tenting ruled out. After having a RTT I can't see going back. They are awesome. My first was a Mt. Shasta.

I need a RTT shoe bag. Anyone have one they’ll part with?

Broken/torn is fine, as long as the part that attaches to the tent is solid.

Bonus if it’s blue to match my Roam.

Deciding on a hoist to store the tent and rack as a unit.

I was set on the Racor until the company informed me they stopped production earlier this year. http://www.racorstoragesolutions.com/p/detail/phl-1r?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

The runners up are the Thule Multilift
    https://www.thule.com/en-us/winter-and-water-sports-carriers/accessories/thule-multilift-_-572004

    and the Harken Hoist
    https://hoisterdirect.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=945

any personal experience would be appreciated

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I have the Racor hoist. If I was to do it again I would buy something else. I don't trust it for shit, even after doing the mods that are absolutely necessary that @Papadave418 recommends.

The Thule looks like a similar design, although I"m sure built better. Going forward I've said I would replace my Racor with the Harken.
