I am sick and tired of people scratching my rear bumper and taking off. A-holes have scratched both sides of my bumper and the matching paint is one of the things I love about my Sport. I want to upgrade to a bumper that scratches back. By that I mean metal. I see at least a dozen to choose from going from $600 to almost $2k. That being said, tell me about your aftermarket rear bumper. 3rd gen only. What do you like about it? Dislike? Lights? Cost? Weight? Pics? Was it a bitch of an install? Any good stories about scratching back? Thanks in advance and death to shitty drivers that scratch your ride and take off!

You don't need a new bumper to solve this problem. You can do it for $200.

I got the apogee offroad rear bumper. What I liked about it is it is the only one that keeps your blind spot monitors and your back-up alarms working.
They have a sale this weekend for black Friday (10% off)

Tyger rear bumper. With some cutting I Was able to make it work on my SR utility with an aftermarket uhaul hitch. I love the thing so far. Have Led reverse pod lights to be installed in the bumper real soon.

What kind of cutting are you talking about? I'm thinking about getting one of these (I have an SR utility, too) and I have a husky hitch installed.

I put this on. Was my son's idea. Tyger faux slider, side steps. Its light and fantastic fit like a tube bumper

I think I just read that somewhere else. These were nerf bars, right?

Pretty much, I used them as sliders on 3 trips, they kind of held up and no damage to the rocker panels. I took them off and replaced them with real bolt to the frame sliders. Lost my stock rear bumper, parking sensors and plastic pieces. So, I had a friend weld the tyger step to my rear end.

I had an RCI off-road rear bumper, Audit during Black Friday sale. It was outstanding, just like all of their stuff I've got so far, good quality, nice powder coating and well priced.

C4 Fabrication high clearance with swingout. Love it. Wish I had the newer version which comes with a foldout table, but I'll make my own soon. Have a hi-lift and Expedition Essentials propane tank mount on the swingout. Paired with the Fifteen52 wheel and it's a'real nice.

Coastal Off-road High Clearance rear bumper. Its a weld it yourself kit and involves trimming the sides of the bed. Had it for about 6 months now and love it. Adds a lot of clearance for off-roading and looks pretty good in my opinion. Nice and cheap if you can weld it yourself or know someone. taco 13.jpg 20210424_171727.jpg

I love those super tucked, high clearance bumpers. But having to get rid of the sensor seems like a pain.

I only have blindside monitor and was able to tuck the sensors into the corner and cut out that section of bumper and used Lexan to cover them. They worked for the first few months but I recently smashed the bumper coming down into a cross ditch while off-roading and they have been saying they are unavailable so I will need to check them once the weather is a bit nicer. My guess is they moved position and are now picking up the metal bumper. Thankfully the sensors are on a switch so I have just turned it off for now.

For newer vehicles with the sensors I don't see why cutting out the positions and covering with Lexan wouldn't work still. A lot of extra fab work and could be finicky to imitate the position but not impossible I imagine.

I went with the Steelcraft rear bumper. No cutting. No relocating the hitch. 6 gauge steel. Bolted right up. $699.
