Hard to say, but the statistics will tell you that owning a dodge won't pay you in the long run.

 

I don't bother to even look at what engines dodge puts out so I can't speak for them, I see them cars in the junkyard a dimadozen, no need to pay for one. Sorry but I don't have any vested interest in that car company one bit, even if they paid me to drive one.

 

One of the coolest Cummins swaps I've ever seen was this 1993 Chevy Suburban 2500 that makes appearances at Carlisle from time to time; The owner let me sit in it at the 2014 Truck Nationals...



It has a 12V Cummins and an NV4500 5-speed, and the guy left the factory dual A/C intact so he can drive his family everywhere in the summer!

 

Nice! It is sad dodge also did away with the manual transmissions after the G56, too many soccer dads buying trucks I guess. The 4BT and 6BT engines are just damn near indestructible as long as you keep some oil in the sump. This right here is proof if you haven't seen the episode, they weld the timing gear to the crank as it broke the woodruff key and jumped timing and still kept going.

True but back then Dodge wasn't as fallible as they are presently, engine or otherwise. There's a reason the companies stopped making the straight/slant 6.

There's handyman in my area who drives an early 1980s Dodge conversion van with the slant-6; It has several hundred thousand miles on it, still passes emissions, and even has working A/C!

 

Straight Sixes in general were always pretty durable, Ford, GM, Dodge, AMC, even foreign makes too.
