Wyoming B.S. Thread

Well drove it home which is just over 100 miles. I've driven on worse alignments. Steering wheel isn't perfectly straight but better than the shop that did it a month ago. Slight bit if bump steer in some conditions.

I'll take it for now.


Seems to run and drive good. Temps were all good.


However I still can't just fill my fucking gas tank. Pissing me off. Not sure what to do now. New tank? Fill neck? Something else EVAP related?

 

I also seem to have a bit of bumpsteer with my alignment on my Solo LCA's.
I wonder if it's just due to the fact of having a shit load of castor. I have 4.35 deg on mine rn.

 

Possible. Didn't have any with the previous couple of alignments. I have like 4.5 and 5.1 castor. Drove great. So not sure. I should have over 4 right now but didn't bother checking that in detail.

 

Interesting. Can't imagine anything other than castor and camber affecting bump steer...

 

toe being off will make the bump steer feel more dramatic

 

I'll have to double check that.
I was measuring off of the tire lugs. Shot for around 1 deg of toe in

Clutch is fun and easy!

 

Not sure about easy..but you are much smaller than I was easy compared to pulling the auto tranny a couple weeks ago that's for sure. Haha


While job had a few more steps for me. New engine mounts(franks old ones) and speedo cable. Rebuild the master cylinder and slave too. Stoked to have a working speedo again. And clutch for that matter. Can't wait to see how fast this lil truck is stock.



Next will be tcase swap if I can find one and 5th gear swap when that happens.

 

I like the idea of the 5th gear swap to make 5.29s highway-able

 

Exactly why I want to try it. For Frank. Should help a ton on that truck. But the little truck is so light and has the torque to do 70mph below 2500 so figure good place to try it.

 

What is the 5th gear swap?

 

You swap out the 5gear for a taller gear. It's about 20% taller.

Only works on the R150 though not the w59 as you take a 5gear from another R series transmission. I posted a write up to it a while ago from Pirate

 

Just get 4.88s and a crawl box.

Driving my 1st gen around with no weight, 34s, and 4.88s is fun. It's got plenty of power, pulling speed limit up the passes, etc.

I think it will be just fine on 35s.

 

This is probably true with a manual, with an auto it's still lethargic on 33s. Like living at 15k feet with a clogged air filter

 

That is brutal.

 

Sorry, I know you've got plans to overcome the shortcomings though.
