    answer me this:
over the years technology has advanced from 8mm and VHS camcorders that were the size of a shoebox that only some people owned to everyone having a camera/video on their cell phone plus so many digital camera options available BUT video quality/frequency hasn't gotten any better when it comes to UFO sightings. why?

I would say the most logical reason is that they can pick up on frequency and know when they are being recorded and either scramble it or its just the government... I still don't think its irrational to believe that the concept of extraterrestrial presence is crazy. Ancient history leads to that conclusion.

Did they do that before digital recording?

I've seen weird stuff in the sky, and experienced weird stuff in the woods, but I remain a sceptic. Especially most current theories/explanations. Much seems based on things that are easily refuted but regarded as absolute truth by those who are "critical" thinkers or "in the know".

No but there are no good res vids and people just didn't have that tech in the masses like they do now. Idk, it's one of those things where you think it is possible but proving it is the variable.

Just think of how many more cameras are out there today - cell phones, digital cameras with video capability, security cameras, weather cams, web cams - compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Yet any video that surfaces today is still the grainy, shaky, out of focus crap quality.

Here’s the deal, you can’t prove the existence or non existence of Bigfoot, UFO’S, Skinwalkers, or the Supernatural. We know for a fact that UFO’s exist. A UFO is simply an unidentified flying object. Zillions of observers have seen them, including some very credible people like scientists, pilots, multiple unrelated observers seeing the same thing etc etc. . The thing we can’t prove is their origin. Are they extraterrestrial, from other worlds, other galaxies, other dimensions or created somewhere on/in earth? No one knows. But UFO’s exist. They are not all swamp gas.
Could things like Bigfoot be intra/inter dimensional, they fade in and out of our reality? An interesting concept. Many many people have had supernatural experiences, inexplicable things that multiple witnesses have seen or experienced. Things that modern science and physics can’t explain. I’ve experienced things that seem other worldly.
Spending as much time in the outdoors and wilderness as I have , I’ve seen and experienced some things that are beyond explanation. I published 3 such experiences in this thread over the last 6 to 8 months. There are strange things out there that no one can explain.
Does Bigfoot or Skinwalkers exist? I don’t know, I’ve never seen one. But I have had experiences that lead me to think that they may exist. Ive seen, heard and experienced things that do not appear to be of this world. I have a certain amount of healthy skepticism but I keep an open mind. No one here can prove or disprove the existence of some of the strange phenomena discussed in this thread. I think these kinds of things are an interesting, fascinating and fun topic. If you don’t believe, fine. If you believe fine. If you’re not sure but have an open mind that’s probably the best. The truth is out there.

I stopped by the cemitary today to decorate my dads grave for Christmas. Just a 100 feet or so away a good friend of mine is buried (Ronnie). He killed himself back in 1979 when he caught his older brother banging his girlfriend. Put a shot gun in his mouth but screwed that up and bled to death instead. We would stop and drink a beer with him and leave a can on his tombstone for some time after that. I had serious drug and alcohol issues back then and found myself there stoned one night in the middle of winter. I had passed out in the 10 degree weather and no one was there to help me. I woke up when I heard Ronnies voice. He said your a fool, Your a fool. When I opened my eyes all I could see in the darkness was these white transparent roundish shapes floating around me and they were gone and the voice as well. I managed to get to my feet and stagger to the road where a guy who knew my brother stopped and got me home. I didnt quit drinkinig for a few more months but I didnt want to get totalled like that anymore and eventually quit. While visiting my dad today I stopped by to see Ronnie as well. Before I left I thanked him for trying to save my life that night. Was it his ghost or was I that stoned? Its still very real to me.

I met another apparation in the Wilder Memoral at the Chickamauga battlefield in 2013. Scared the hell out of me. My wife didnt want to go up to the observation deck so I went in alone and began the climb. The tower had slits in the sides to allow light in but you were constantly going from light to almost darkness every few seconds as you went up. About half way up I stepped into a dark area and walked into something that was ice cold and it surrounded me. I started to hyperventalate and remember saying I am out of here. I turned and got out of the tower as fast as I could. When I came out the bottom My wife was there and said you didnt go to the top did you? I said no and Im not going to the top either. She then grabbed my shirt sleeve and asked me how I got blood on it. When I looked there were 2 tiny drops on my shoulder. She said lets hurry and get back to the car so she could wipe it off and not stain my shirt. When we got to the car the blood spots were gone. I then told her what happened to me in the tower. I found out later I wasnt the only one who ran into something in that tower, There are several stories on line.

I was with my dad when he died in 1997. A few minutes before he was gone he became very violent and kept tearing at the port they had in his shoulder. While I was holding him down he looked at me and told me I am going home. He collasped and died soon after. I have no doubt in my mind that my dad was going home. I think he was seeing family that had died before him as he laid there dying. I hope when its my time I will see what he saw that made him feel that way. He was not afraid. Yes I beleive in ghosts. I also beleive in god and anything is possiable.

Serious answer, which oddly has nothing to do with my opinion on real or skeptic:

In the past 5 years or so digital tech has finally reached a point where it can rival film for quality (not to mention that good digital tech is finally reaching the average consumer price point), but it is still hampered by a simple rule of physics. The farther away it is, and the less light shining on it, the bigger the challenge to capture. The types of photos that you describe, whether its close encounter, Predator, Bigfoot, or Nessie, are typically the bain of all photographers: large distance, low light, and usually moving through cover (low contrast environment). It doesnt have to be mystical. Ask a bird-nerd on how easy it is to capture that rare warbler sighting mid-flight, 150 yards away, at sunset. (Or better yet, don't. That usually leads to awkward conversations about birds.)

Now, its an amazing feat of engineering that our phones can capture what they do using the absolutely miniscule optics that they have. But we have a long ways to go before the tech gets so magical that we can tell from 300 yards out whether that object in the shadows is Bigfoot, Predator, or just an odd tree branch thats twisting in the wind. Its really, really cool that exposure speeds are starting to get so fast they are on the level of wizardry, which is already starting to overcome the need for a big honking light gatherin' lens and some serious "hold still" time, but for the average joe snapshot, we aren't there yet. Not for the types of photos that we would need on this thread, at least.
