Can't say I've ever tried it because I don't know why anyone would leave their fob inside the vehicle when they aren't. But while experimenting with the functions of locking my truck, I was not able to lock the truck with the fob inside of it. However, it occurred to me that this may be related to trying to lock it via the touch pad on the handle and not using a second fob.

Interestingly enough, the only way to lock it while running without the fob inside is manually. The fob and door buttons will not work.

    hmmmmmm, think about it.
You could leave your fob in the cab without locking the doors or manual lock doors or possibly using the 2nd keyfob to lock doors? then use the 2nd keyfob to remote start and it will lock you doors as usual. The thing is the 2nd keyfob wouldn't be that far away to unlock doors, right? unless someone else has the 2nd fob, remote starts it since you can't find your fob and takes off. Then you're stuck

    Yes I guess so.
All I know is I could start the truck with the second FOB in the house while the first one was left in the truck. I pressed the button 3 times and the light flashed like they normally do and the truck started with the fob inside. When I walked up to truck with no fob in my pocket the truck was still running but would not let me in and this is when I noticed my fob inside.
I usually leave the fob in the truck and this way I just walk up and get in push button and go. Because Winter is here now I try to carry it with me.
So like I said from the beginning learned something new just wanted to share it with those that were not aware of this. just sayin.

    Think about it...
You have a wife. You gave her a fob and you have a fob. She keeps hers in her purse and yours in your pocket. You both get in and you start your truck. It starts and runs and everything. It has to be able to perform with the option of another fob in the truck.

Good point. Have you tried leaving the wife in the car and walk away and see if the doors will lock or try to remote start truck with wife inside to me that would be the true test. just sayin.

I have unlocked the door while my wife was inside and the engine running. We do it all the time when one needs to get out to get something quick. I get out, she locks the door, I come back and unlock it remotely.
