Since I drive my Taco everyday in the oil fields I was bound to find my self cross country with what can only be called a jeep track to follow. I didn't know it was going to be this bad.

I was 30 miles from civilization, off in the oil fields at 20:00 last night when I decided to take a short cut. The GPS said there was a road (part of the way at least) and I knew that it would probably pop out on another lease road I knew was close by. What I didn't know was the 10 mile long fence line that separated the two roads. I decided that there had to be a gate somewhere along the way so I would just go forward. NOT:mad:. I was moving along this track, that was barely visible with my headlights and one remote control searchlight I have on the roof, and there was literally no place I found suitable to turn around. The sand was unbelievably deep and I ended up using my rear diff lock at one point to get me over a dune. 10 miles later I found the exit. It put me 1 mile from where I started the damn short cut.

The worst part was the screeching of the bushes on the sides of my new baby. Around every corner and over every dune there was this vicious looking bush with 3" thorns that reached out and attacked the sides of my dear Taco. Oh the agony:(.

However,She acted exactly how I expected and though the scratches were visible with all the dust on them I gave her a bit of a rubdown this morning before we hit the oil fields again.

Loved every minute of it. Dinner was cold when I finally got home though, but so was the beer.

I don't know how people can stand driving on the road all day.

I am doing about 6k per month and about 25% is on lease roads. Not always the best either as I work were pumpers do not want to tread.

I understand! About half of my miles are either dirt roads, off road, no road......I must say that my 4x4 gets a work out!
