I got the TRD lift kit installed when I bought my truck. It was around $2800 for parts and labor. I opted for the TRD lift instead of aftermarket because it allows me to use the sensors on the front of the truck (adaptive cruise control, and whatever else is up there).

I was thinking of switching out my 16" wheels and getting the 17" TRD wheels or aftermarkets. As far a tire size, can I fit a 285/70/17 without rubbing? The lift is 2"Front/1"Rear.

That ALL works with my aftermarket lift.

My Tacoma is being built this week and I have been thinking about the same thing, adding the TRD lift. Here is what my dealer has on special and think it’s a good deal and they agreed to lock price for me until truck arrives. Also like the Nitto RG’s as I have them on current truck, not thrilled with wheels in package. Thoughts all around?

So that’s the only lift to be validated to work with their Toyota safety sense, lol. My 2019 & 2021 both were lifted by me, zero issues with my TSS.

If you feel it’s a good deal (because you’ve already done the research?) and it’s easier for you to drive out with the package already installed, do whatever makes you happy. Some people prefer to work on their vehicles themselves, other don’t.

The kit is overpriced with it only being a block in the rear.

Toyota is trying to use the safety items as a selling point for people who have never lifted a truck before.

Totally agree that this is overpriced and the lure is the safety sense and having under warranty with the new truck. Bilstein 5100’s, block, and grill well under $1,000. I’m not the guy to install, over my desire and capability, so maybe a few $100’s to install and another $100 for alignment, etc…. So of course as someone said it may be a security blanket in mind.

My bigger thought is if I decide to go the non-TRD lift and forego the safe feeling, what would I expect to pay and should I go bigger than 2/1. Maybe a 4”? If I want to run 33’s will I need UAC’s?

i would post up in the suspension forum. I have a 2nd gen so cannot comment on the safety features but I have to imagine the sensors will work the same.

Price all depends on what you want to spend and what you intend to do with your truck.

4 inch lift is going to get expensive due it being a drop bracket lift.
