While that maybe true. How does it help to recover the lost dollars????

Just amounts to a middle school stupid prank. Zero benefit.

    Sorry.....gotta disagree.

The funny comes when the OP wins the case, receives restitution and LAUGHS all the way to the bank.

What kind of middle aged scum bag steals $800 and then goes Jason Bourne?

I swear the older I get, the less I understand people.

but I hate thieves just as much as a Texan.

Unfortunetly I dont think the Randolph County Sheriffs office cares too much about internet scammers. They have too much to worry about in Trasheboro to care.

Great chance the tires were stolen from discount tire. I’ll don’t see anything yet proving he is an employee, but he has ties there somehow. People can maneuver around the legal system, but the court of public opinion against them will get results. This clown isn’t going to counter sue you. Gather info on him and share your story with them. Employee, friends, etc. I have been in business for myself for over 15 years, only not gotten paid twice.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
OP do what you want I can only say I went through something close a few years back.

Different state different rules I talked to a lawyer the retainer was more then the funds lost looking back I should have just walked away took the hit and not looked back.

Goes to court that drags out over a year and a half canceled hearings etc his lawyer quitting .

You don`t think about the days lost from work travel back to be canceled the afternoon before .

skip to I win the judge sets the payment the original amount and my lawyers fees I get $20.00 a month till the judgement is paid.

I really think the person paying the judgement in the long run made out better.

Maybe I’m ignorant on this, but I seriously doubt any local law enforcement agency cares about a guy I sent $800 to on the internet. I work side by side with a huge metro PD as well as a small town one station PD and I know for a fact the metro wouldn’t lift a finger and small town doesn’t have the resources or manpower.

I’m not law enforcement, but if I was and someone came to me and described the scenario I’m in with little to no info on the scammer, I’d say lesson learned and be more careful next time.

My $800 is missed (I still need new tires), but obviously this guy has taken some lengths to shut down parts of his life that I can imagine brought him joy and connection over less than a grand. Pathetic

FWIW, I didnt think the Denver police would give a hoot about my playstation and a handful of games that got stolen out of my apartment few years back, roughly $1000 worth of stuff.

I reported it, considered it a lost cause, and moved on with my life. A year later I got a call from a detective that they traced my stolen ps4 to a local pawn shop and it was the kid who lived down the hall who robbed me. They put out a warrant and it took another year but they finally caught him and hauled him in on some other stuff. Unfortunately the statute of limitations was up and they couldnt prosecute, but the little shit spent the weekend in jail and he has the arrest on his record.

My point is, the dollar amount and situation in which you were wronged is irrelevant, and it's not the officer's job taking the report to be the jury decide whether you as the victim have learned your lesson or not. Theres legal process he has to follow and submit that report, regardless of the resources they have available. It gets the this scumbag into the system and in my opinion, the more eyes the law has on him the better so hes less likely to do this again. Just my .02 cents worth.

Maybe I am the one that is ignorant. I do not see how you can get your money back by posting here, and not doing what has been suggested as answers.

Fellas come on, you know as well as I do that money is long gone. There's no getting it back. The perpetrator was willing to go full Jason Borne over $800. This is some gambling or drug addiction-level shit going on.

Maybe you find a way to publicly humiliate or personally embarrass him, or at best he gets arrested (super long shot). But that money ain't ever coming back.

Seriously, you still haven't even filed a report. At this point it just makes you an idiot. Multiple people, including myself have given you the basic legal info on this. It is called fraud. Because it used electronic communications (internet) it is called wire fraud. Because it crossed state line, it would be charged at a federal level.
Last time. File a report. If you CHOOSE not to, then I am in the camp that it is your fault.
