    The mostly black 09 story!

I bought the truck on Aug 08 2020, my first ever Toyota. Shortly afterward I learned about the frame problem. Because I had just bought it from a Toyota dealer I wasn't to worried about it. I bought a set of running boards for it and while installing them I did notice that the frame looked to have more rust than I would have thought. I took it to the dealer and asked to have it inspected. That was sometime in Aug 2020. I was told that there was only surface rust. In Nov of 2021 I took it back to the dealer for another frame inspection. They photographed it and sent the pictues to Toyota. Their photos do show holes rusted through the frame.

When I took it in for the photos the tech told me that it would be pointless to photograph it because the time for it to be replaced had expired. When I told the service manager he took the truck and had the photos taken. They were then sent to Toyota.

    Side note

The 12 year time frame for replacing the frame stared 2-27-2009 and ended 2-27-2021. When I first asked to have the frame inspected it was in 2020 well within the time frame to be replaced. Can a frame go from surface rust to perforation in just over a year? Can a Toyota dealer sell you a truck that will will be total junk in two years?

    The waiting game begins!!!!

You really should keep this all consolidated in one thread instead of starting new threads each time. Plus, makes it easier for other TW members to know the history/background behind it so they can respond accordingly.

To answer your question, bottom line is you got duped by your dealer. Whether knowingly or due to their own ignorance, who knows, but they F'd up.

If you message the mod team, or report this thread, they should be able to consolidate for you

    That’s good to hear.
Nothing like the feeling of find a “big” problem and feeling helpless.
I can’t weld, so I’d be like you. Looking to find someone that would help me.

Big thumbs up to your Nephew. He definitely saved the day.

Here's a before photo. I didn't take the photo personally, but they definitely cut out more than what's shown here.

It's crazy, just in that small viewing area of your truck everywhere else looks mints underneath. The floorboards etc. At least you're all set now and have the strength back in that thing

Exactly, such a huge relief! She will now live the rest of her life soaked in fluid film.

If it has AC and the drain hose hasn't been re-routed, I'd add an extension on it so it drains the AC moisture around the frame. It seems Toyota designers routed the AC drain so it drips right onto the top right frame rail.
