29 MPG on a 2022 Tacoma?

I saw this on Facebook and this guy is saying he’s getting 29 MPG on his Tacoma. I’m aware it’s not Friday yet

 

Downhill, no drag, probably drafting, maybe has the wife or kids flapping their arms for momentum

 

Maybe dude put a wing on the tonneau cover?

 

Ok then, I'm getting 31.

 

Making up MPG like many here do as well.

People make stuff up online all the time.

 

But I thought if it’s in the internet, it’s true.

 

Truth!

 

On a leg where you average 50mph, and don’t go over 60, on flat ground without a headwind, this is very repeatable. Lot of ifs, but if they line up….

 

They are saying city

I drive like a blind 90 year old (slow). I can get as good as 20.5 in mostly city driving. Strange thing is I get no better on highway driving. I took a short back road trip recently. 2.5 hour drive round trip. Got 19.7 on fill up.

 

As someone that has tried to squeeze some mpg’s, put me down for a bullshit.

 

My Tacoma's dash MPG thing claimed I was getting 30mpg when coasting down hill.

 

With cruise control on and going 70 on a flat road and the temp was about 65. I got right between 21 and 22 mpg. 29 is def going down a hill in neutral

 

He's either talking kilometers or is really not good at math.

 

Rookies. I get 41.

Only cuz I put in 93 octane tho...

 

No nitromethane?

 

Mine gets 30mpg on a downhill.

 

Funny this post pops up today. I have a trip from CT to NC this week and plan on seeing what I can get the MPGs to max out at. I'm running the FN Wheels 16x8 wheels which are 19 pounds and just dropped my tire size from 265/70/16 to 245/75/16 which sheds about 3.5 pounds per tires. I'll set the cruise to the speed limit and provide the results. I guarantee you it would be 30 MPG. Shooting for 25-26 MPG.
