    Pictures are always good to!

    Thanks safe travels!

I think you’ll want to check out the towing subforum. The Bible and picture threads are stickies.

    That ^^^

You should have factory trans cooler on your TRD sport, it looks like you have the tow package.

So I don't pull a camper but I do regularly pull about 3,000 lbs (Sxs & dirtbike or construction materials). With that weight, I don't find much of a need for any extras with the factory tow package - just change your oil a bit more frequently and SLOW DOWN unlike most idiots pulling trailers out there... With the way these trucks are geared, I wouldn't really want to pull much more than 4 or 5000 lbs at the most though... Even when pulling 3000 lbs up and down the Kentucky hills in my area things can start feeling really bogged down. Maybe you are in a flat area, though. If I were buying one, I'd try to keep it to 4000 lbs max. Just my .02

It makes me happy to see someone else recognize they really shouldn't be towing more than 5k and realistically no more than 4k with these things. They can do it, but they don't do it very well. 3k is decent, and as you mentioned you def feel it

We tow right at 5000lbs. I wouldn’t want to go any more.

Yep. I live in a hilly region and would not tow more than 4000-4500, especially with the manual. Starting on hills with that weight is not fun.

    Nice!

How does your taco handle mountain passes with that weight?

    Check build thread!
I tow a lot, regularly right up to the limit. I've put 35k KM on my truck in the 7 months I've owned it (and 3 of those were quarantined, lol), and my best advice I can give is

    1. Research a lot into what you want/need. I spent over 3 years looking at trailers, with a Tacoma in mind, and finally purchased one when I found the right one.
    2. If you're over 3500lbs, get a WDH. It's not "unsafe" without one, just more comfortable with one, so worth the cash IMO.
    3. If you're going to be maxing out payload a lot, and are dealing with squat- get airbags. IMO, they're better than the helper springs because if you also have a remote compressor installed, you can adjust it on the fly for what you're towing/hauling.
    4. Do oil changes a little early- I beat the crap out of my truck. 60% of my driving is on dirt roads, hauling near max payload. So, I do mine every 8-10k km. That's overkill, but its just cheap insurance for me.

Truck does fine, it takes me about 20 minutes to get into the towing feeling where wind pushes you a bit and everything is slow and steady. S4 and ECT for sure.

I’d be pretty careful if I had to go over the coq or the Rogers, so far I duck into the Koots from Revy and avoid the passes. It’s climbed up out of LittleFort on Hwy24 - that’s over 1000m gain in about 13km.. pretty steep.

3.5 revs high and pulls harder than the old 4.0 did. It also runs much cooler according to my scangauge.
