In my "extended test drive" as I call it, I would consider it for a purchase but as a regular cab..if not available (I suspect not), access. I'd only need the 4 banger though if that's an option. 17MPG wasn't exactly fantastic given what I'm used to, though I did have a Chevy Malibu for a few weeks prior and 40 from a gasser was kinda coolish.

    You've taught him well.

My AC works just fine. Even on the hottest summer days.

But if you mean socially cool, I drive a 5 lug. So obviously I don't care about that.

And I still throw up in my mouth a little at 3rd gen grills.

    After the transmission update, yes.
If I was buying new, I'd probably go for one over a Tacoma.

I think a super clean 1st, 2nd gen still trumps the 3rd gens. I hope to keep my 3rd gen long enough for my son to drive it. He’s 2 and a half so have many more years to go haha

This thread reeks of insecurity. Try to channel the 1st gen mentality. Just sayin...

I was looking at a 2015 and decided to wait for the 2016 to check out the new tech. Test drove the 3rd gen and decided to go for a 2nd gen. No ragrets.

My 2015 crew cab off road has not been "cool". With only 61k on it it has been a money pit. Frame rot, just did second head gasket job on right bank that was done under warranty at 20k miles that I had to pay for. Now the heater core needs changing, big bucks. Lower ball joints bad at 35k out of warranty for time. Setting evaporative emission code now,2 dealers can't seem to diagnose it. Toyota reliability is a myth.

Looking through your few threads, you are a very unhappy camper.

With the current craziness of market prices, I'd think you'd be happier if you traded it in, as it will be the most you can ever hope to recover from the vehicle.

I'd also suggest trading it on another marquee to relieve the bitterness you feel.

Until the frame gets so bad that Toyota has to replace it you can't give these trucks away up here. My frame will qualify by next year so I will probably give it to my grandson with a new frame. At my age this truck might be the last one anyway.

A reliable truck with low maintenance cost that goes up in value. No monthly truck payment.
    Pretty cool.

That was my attempt at a joke.....given the 3rd gen still has drum brakes and nonlocking fuel door.

So you run around posting about your financial money pit, and rather than just moving on you'd rather give it to a grandson?

Sorry. No comprende. You said "Toyota reliability is a myth."

Do you not like him or something?

Personally, I always have a fondness for older well kept vehicles versus what the current masses drive. Tacomas, FJ, LC, Jeeps, mustangs, camaros, etc...Doesn't matter the brand, older vehicles that you know the owners have spend alot of time caring for always catches my eye on the road. I still get random waves from various toyotas and even Jeeps so I guess my tacoma is still cool.

It’s a good 5 speed manual in the 2.5 frontier- fairly short throws and light clutch with short travel. Fun truck to drive

    2013 AC V6 MT OR Spruce/Mica

    THIS - ALL DAY -

I wanted a 6sp OR AC when I was shopping two years back - the 3rd gen was a no go b/c of this 'only Canada' policy BS. . . so 8 months [and a few duds] later I found my baby. 2013 Spruce Mica TRD OR AC 6MT with 55K - sport seats, tow package, spot on clean AF -

I just took out the center console to do the seats and it only had some dust!!
No crusty fries or soda spills - I cannot believe how clean it is - cleaner than if I had it for the first 55K . . . .
& I don't allow kids, food, beverages, anything in my automobiles.. just dog drool and fur, occasionally.

I just put in Clazzio covers + heated seats & got rid of the stupid OEM grill for TRD Pro [knock off] but she is perfect for what I want and need.
I will keep her till I die/hope to never need to buy another truck..

I prefer older cars and have never owned an automatic - I plan on keeping things that way.
My grandpa made it to 92yr old with his MT - and had both knees replaced along the way - so that is my goal on that

Oh yes and in the year and a half I have owed it - it is now worth almost 5K more than I paid for it - you cannot beat that!

I think the lack of nannies is the coolest.

Any tech I want I can add myself.
