You on Charlotte MTB? Need to get back out to Cedar/Fisher soon. Just did a jump clinic over the weekend.

First pic is the top of Skyline (Napa). Second pic is Demo (Santa Cruz). It seems like 25-50% of the riders are on eBikes these days (eBikes are not allowed at Demo but there is no enforcement).

It seems my old garmin too old to know the model watch has officially died.

Anyone see any Garmin sales going on? Haven’t used a Suunto, but I’ve looked. They seem comparable.

I’m not looking to spend over $300, preferably less. So please don’t suggest a Fenix 1000s. The Garmin Instinct is what I’m looking at most.

Most everything has way more features than I need. Telling time and GPS are really my only must haves.

It was cool, the airbag was really easy but gave me some fits on occassion. Overthinking it. Ramp was a 6' step up to the 7' airbag. Airbag was roughly 27ft long.

I’m in Northern Virginia, it’s been a while since I rode Bryce but I’m like 2ish hours from there
I just got the fenix 6 pro solar for like $200 off. Dcrainmaker says the venu 2 is a solid watch though. It’s only $150 right now on garmin. Everything is on sale there

Did you have a drop in or something so you could get speed, especially for the airbag.

Nah, this was just on a grass field. It would have been a little less physically demanding if it was dirt, pedaling that stuff 100x through grass kinda sucked.

The ramp and airbag combo is not the crazy stuff you see on youtube. It was about a 1' step up and about a 3' gap. Intimidating at first though

Thanks for the links. I tapped back into an old YouTube fav of mine, Ginger Runner. He’s always had some good reviews on GPS watches.

I have a Fenix 6 sapphire. Love the watch, but it’s so goddam heavy. Wish they would make the same watch, without all the metal.
It regularly gives me bruises on my wrist bone. I’m using a good silicone strap to tighten it down, or a wrist sweat band and running the watch higher on my wrist.
But the weight is a serious downside. It also makes it jiggle around a ton, which means shitty HR readings.
Overall awesome watch for everything but MTB, but really dislike the heft on rough trails. My wife’s 9-something forerunner is great, wish it had the Fenix features though.

I just picked up a VivoActive 4s for my wife a week ago from REI. They might still have the sale.

I have an Instinct Solar, and I love it, great battery life.

The fenix is definitely a good bit heftier than the Apple Watch but the band makes it easy to keep in place. I’m probably going to swap out the bad for a nylon band though cause I’m not a big fan of silicon. I’m really diggin the watch though. Can’t beat a 5 day battery life!
