Gregory packs are at the top of my list as far as usefullness and durability go, I have an older Kelty redclouds 5600 right now, but when that one wears out I'm definatly switching over to a gregory.

Also I really like the osprey's, Waiting for my REI member reimbursement to come in so I can get the Osprey Kestrel 38, it seems super comfortable and my small weekend pack has finally ripped out after a good decade of abuse.

The Gregory packs seemed the most comfortable to me. The Keltys were alright but they all have this plastic or metal bar that is supposed to line up to your spine. It seemed like they could get uncomfortable very quickly so those are out for me. And the women's styles of Ospreys were too small for me.

Keltys hold up well and poles are easy to replace - great since those are usually the first thing to go. Try a Yellowstone or Trail Dome.

How does that Coleman mattress fit in your 5 ft. bed? Do you have to flip the tailgate down?

x2. check out some of the REI products as well. I would plan on spending about 200-300 on something decent that will last you a while.

I do flip the tailgate down because I'm 6' tall. The shell tent fits with the tailgate down and the shell back open.

The Coleman SUV Mattress, though, has two seperate chambers. What looks like a pillow in the picture is actually the second chamber (sits level with the main mattress). If you didn't air that part up, it would probably easily fit. The mattress is slightly narrower than the bed (41" vs the bed's 52").

Hi Guys, I'd thought I would review my new Camp Stove.

Its a Brunton Raptor which I bought off of Amazon for $27. Specs can be found here: http://www.brunton.com/product.php?id=299

First Impression: Damn this thing is small! and folds out nicely. The Piezo electric ignition makes it really easy to use.

At Home: Boiled two cups of water in about 3.5 minutes.

    In the Field:
    [IMG][IMG]

SO in the field it worked great for a lil while. My cousin and I were on Eastfork Lake which was frozen over, so we decided to stop and hang out on the ice. We warmed some water up for some hot coco, which took about 3 minutes to bring the water to a non - drinkable temperature ( Not boiling quite yet. ) After that, we played on the ice for a good bit then cooked some Ramen noodles. While we were boiling the water for ramen, the water began to roll over the sides of the mug onto the canister. After the ramen was done, I turned off the stove, which I shouldn't had done because I wanted some more Hot Coco. Too my surprise, the water and noodles that had fallen on the canister froze almost immediately. After this happened, the stove wouldn't let gas out anymore. The canister was way to cold, plus it was frozen to the lake. :) The fuel became too cold for it to shoot a fine spray through the stove.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. Though its not the best winter stove, I think after a few tries I will get all the Do's and Don'ts in order, and it'll be just fine. If I would have used less water while boiling the ramen I wouldn't have had the "frozen" fuel canister. So I blame the problem on the user ( Me )

I have thought of ways to avoid this problem too, I was thinking of an oversized cozy cup. Or just a thick sock to put the canister in.

Here are a few more pics from that day.

    My gear all packed

Tied ourselves to each other in case the ice broke. LOL but I don't think the buddy system works right when both of you fall through!!:D

How tippy is it? When looking at stoves those types always freaked me out since I just know I would tip it over. Also interesting to hear about the burner issue. My Dragonfly's design has the jet shoot onto the bottom of a little cup which I think prevents that from happening, but I don't really know.

The Jetboil is like that. I bet if you buy just the supports that hook to the fuel canister for the jet boil, it would work for any other canister as well. for as tall as the jetboil is, i didn't have any issues with it tipping on my recent trip. I was on a slope as well.
