    Update:

Washed the truck today with the new grill installed. Paint held up well with soap, water, and scrubbing. Only area I found to be a bit of a down fall so far has been that the new paint has made the surface not necessarily abrasive, but rough and hard to wipe clean with a micro fibre clothing as compared to before. Wiping the black accented non modified lower bumper with the same cloth has no friction/resistance as compared to the newly painted grill. I believe this is due to the 2k clear coat that I added at the end which provided the matte finish I was looking for. This ‘issue’ is not something I consider major, but wanting to keep this thread going and you readers informed

Any suggestions out there on how to keep the matte finish but obtain a ‘softer’ finish, if that makes sense

Thanks again guys, appreciate the discussions

I am curious about chipping down the road. I have done this on another vehicle years ago and probably didn’t use the proper paints and prep is as well as I should have because it chipped badly. Can you keep us posted if you start to see any? It looks great!

I did mine over a year ago, but didn’t use the 2k clear. Just the SEM trim paint after lots and lots of prep with a scotch brite. After about 20k miles and multiple washes It still looks exactly the same as day 1.

Is the paint you used the same that OP used in his pic?

Through the cold weather of the Canadian winter, road trip, and many washes, grill still looking 100%

Finally got around to doing mine. Ended up just doing primer and paint as I liked how it came out. Tinted the emblem with smoke film.
