All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I gave them $1200 to install.

If you can put them in the bed, do that. I drive my truck under and ATM once with bikes on the top. I will never load another bike up top unless I have no other choice.

I had a locker added as well. The 1200 is pretty standard I have found. You maybe find someone to do it for less, but a shop will charge 1k-1200.

I miss the days of 4.88 and 5.29 complete used 8in 3rds for $450 a plenty. When I put 4.88's in my 4runner it cost me under $900 for a front high pinion 4.88 3rd with a Detroit and a rear 4.88 with a retro modded elocked 3rd.

It was my DD. Although the first lock-rite I had in it would unload like a bomb aorund left turns so a welded diff would have been an upgrade over that crazy thing

I think I recall you sharing that story once before. In theory, only the kid's bikes would go up top and only when headed out on camping treks. Otherwise, They'll be in the bed.

Well, i think I'm going to pass on the gears and locker. 25% off is hard to pass by, but I can order the complete 3rd member and clamshell from ECGS and install myself for around the same.

I have installed the icon 3 leaf AAL pack and it seems the rear eibach shocks may be to short for the lift. I know the pack does about an inch and a half to 2 inch. The eibach says supports 0-1.5. I have read the eibach rep on here say it should be fine with more than that but that's all they say to be safe. What do you guys think I should do?

    I see three basic options:
    1. New rear shocks
    2. Limit straps (do they even make those for the rear?)
    3. Let them settle

That's without knowing anything more than what you stated. How do you know the new shocks are too short?

The shocks are new eibach. It looks like the shocks fully extended are 2 inches shorter than the truck with the axle hanging at full droop.

That wouldn't work either. The plates for the u bolt flip have taken over a month to ship even though it said they were in stock so I went and got oem style u bolts made at nash trucks. They only had two different lengths of rods to bend to make the bolts. One was to short so the ones I got are basically tightened as much as they can be before running out of thread. So lowering the rear would make things worse. Multiple people on the eibach thread says they've run the exact setup with no problems so I'm gonna run it and see how it goes.

In my experience, it isn't very common that your shocks get fully extended. Especially not with force behind them. On the off chance that they are fully extended while offroading, you're probably going slow enough that it won't damage anything. So I think you are probably fine. If you intend to do the Baja...then you need to spend a lot more money.

I run the cheap Bilstein B110 Tundra rear shocks because of the stock lenth shocks topping out with my RXT leaf pack…but it now requires an extended bump stop to not bottom out. Depends where you want the wheel travel. In all honesty, the bump travel is where Tacoma’s have always come up short, so I’d keep your shorter shocks

What option did you run your RXTs when you had the topper?

Any of y’all running Tundra brake kits? I’ll be pulling trailers; nothing too big, next year and would appreciate some additional stopping power.
