He’s consistent. But being consistent with no championships won’t be enough in Baton Rouge (I don’t think). How many seasons will they give him?

This isn’t happening. I refuse to believe it.

edit - if it happens, Fickell to ND. Fairly certain he’s mentioned it being one of the few jobs he’d leave UC for.

I think “consistent” won’t be the same level at lsu. They have gpa requirements and obviously the no conference hurting their recruiting, and he still brings in top 10 classes. Should be even better at lsu

If you think ND is making it that hard for their football players, there’s a class for you at UNC. ND not being in a conference doesn’t hurt them either, ND is an absolute brand without one. It benefits them 0% to join at this point

    and I hate ND.lol I love it.

Can't disagree with the Fickell to ND possibility with this development. And that would make the last two ND coarches coming from Cincy.

If you think ND not being in a conference isn’t a negative to some players, then you really just shouldn’t talk on the subject. I guarantee it is, because it makes it even harder to get into the post season for a game that matters without a stronger conference track record. It’s becoming easier as the years go on, but the last 10-12? Nah, they always spoke about how not having a conference or a championship game was a big negative.

You would think ND would have all the money in the world to match LSU’s offer, which is insane, apparently. I just don’t see Kelly having the success he’s had at ND when he has to play Bama every year and worry about the SEC championship. Maybe I’m wrong. We’ll see.

    now, Urban Meyer to ND?

ND is a perennial CFP contender without being in a conference, recruits very well, and makes a boat load of money on their independent contract.

What are you talking about? Norte Dame IS tradition, and kids dream of playing there.

LSU must have offered him more money than the pope. I can’t figure it out. ND has higher requirements than LSU, but they’ve still lowered them over the years to help with getting guys signed and are generally on the cusp of making it.

Doesn’t make sense, but lol @ ND.

There have been 2 numbers out out. Both make him the highest paid coach in the nation. One I’d them puts him at 15 mil/year. Saban makes slightly less than 10. I’d go for that money, too :notsure:

You literally just contradicted yourself. Saying it’s not harder to recruit at Notre dame while also saying they have to lower requirements to help themselves.

I’m not saying ND can’t and doesn’t recruit and have success, I’m simply saying it’s easier at lsu and there are more options available because of what they have and their lower requirements and conference benefits.

it’s like you truly think a player would like to play for an independent more than they would an sec team. Lolololol

Like LA > Norman, I’d just as soon say Baton Rouge > South Bend as well.

Both would be ridiculous numbers. ND being private I don’t think his salary is out there but it’s rumored/assumed to be like 5mil right now

Recruiting is not signing. It’s a slight nuance, I know.

You said kids don’t want to play at ND because there isn’t a championship game. That’s simply not true. Championship Games were put into place for another W for the top team hoping to bolster their resume, as well as extra TV money. Guess who doesn’t need it?

    Notre Dame.
