My sisters Winston broke just like that this year. We were getting rigged up for a few days on the Rio Grande and it snapped while she was threading the leader up through the guides. It really sucked because it put us down a rod for the whole trip. It did give me an excuse to buy a new Ross reel for an extra rod I had though.

That's the 3rd section, and not exactly sure - it broke mid cast. Probably damaged beforehand in one of the usual ways and I didn't notice.

If I was in the middle of a trip I'd go buy a cheap redington or echo or something. Which is exactly what I'll be fishing with now while my Winston gets repaired.

Just so folks know Redington is Sage's "economic brand".

Also, I know many using Temple Fork rods, especially for Euro Nymphing rigs.

I own a redington and an echo, both in the $200-$250ish price range, and both are great rods. You definitely don't need a more expensive rod to catch fish.

That being said, I do want to spend a day fishing with a top of the line Sage, or G. Loomis, or whatever and see what the difference is. :D

I wish they did demo days for rods like they do for snowboards

I only fish there after Jan 1st when the road is closed and you have to hike/bike/xc ski in. Otherwise it's way too much of a combat fishing shit show for me. There's some nice fish in there though.

I much prefer fishing in town generally.

If you are willing to send me some spots, i promise to keep them low key.

the snow doesn’t seem promising so i am hoping to supplement with fishing

I don't think there's any secret, public spots on the Yampa.

Go fishing anywhere in town. I prefer downtown, but it's all good.

Anglers All kind of does, but they literally back to the South Platte in Littleton where they let me cast a rod around for a bit.

I might be able to join you for a bit too depending on when you're around.

It was closed all summer due to low flows and high temperatures, bur reopened last month.

Orvis has a great warranty. First trip out I set my Helios down on the tailgate and went to get a little support when putting on my waiters leaning on my third section and snap. Orvis had it back to me in about 10 working days. The second time was up at Gray's reef same rod the tip came off from not enough glue on the tip. I emailed Orvis with a picture and an explanation of how it came off from the lodge I was at and my wife called me two days later to tell me I had a package from Orvis. My Sage The X broke from abuse from riding in the truck with my GSD and they had the rod for 3 months and it cost $125.00 with shipping. Oh, I always have an extra rod or gun when bird hunting.

And while I'm waiting for my 2nd repair on my orvis, I broke my Winston yesterday. :annoyed: I guess we'll see how their warranty is.

Sounds like you have a healthy rod addiction. What weights are all of these?

Also, does anyone have a euro setup that they would be willing to let me borrow and give the technique a try?

I would be willing to offer bourbon or beer in return.

Sounds like you've had better luck than me.

I have a recon, would love to try a Helios - the first time it broke it was like 3 months to get it back. Now 2nd break on the same rod and I'm over a month already. $50 each time.

can you not take orvis rods to the shop in denver and just exchange sections? Seems that would be a win-win for everyone with shipping costs being so high
