Finally replaced my busted Extracab rear window latch pivot hinges. Should have done it years ago, but I've hardly ever popped them open.
Good as new now...metal hinges instead of crappy OEM plastic.
    Easy install.
8 bucks and change from Amazon.

Unlike almost every mention I've seen on here I broke my Extracab rear window latch but not at the hinge. Instead it broke on the piece of metal that attaches to the interior sheet metal behind the plastic trim. Pay no attention the frustrated screwdriver marks.
    tmp-1638108409275_copy.jpg

Broken piece and new OEM hinge
    tmp-1638108409154_copy.jpg
Bit of a PITA to pop loose a bit of the interior plastic to get to the two 10mm (I think) bolts. Taking off the rear seatbelt and the coat hanger hook was enough to be able to pop of some clips and gain access to the 2 bolts. Local dealer quoted me $65 for the part so I instead got it through toyotapartsdeal.com for under $40
    tmp-1638108409103_copy.jpg
Got the old part out with only a bit of frustration marks.
    tmp-1638108409349_copy.jpg
New part on. Works as expected.
    tmp-1638108409325_copy.jpg
Now knowing how often that plastic hinge breaks I was no dummy and disassembled the old part by driving out the roll pins and now have the non-broken parts in my parts bin.

Checked valve clearances, weird that the inside of the passenger valve cover looks worse than the driver side.

I got the full valve cover gasket set from YOTASHOP, didn’t realize I also needed manifold gaskets. On Timmy‘s video it said I needed two of 1717662040, so I ordered those. I just noticed that the upper and lower have different part numbers at Toyota? Will the 2 I ordered work?

parts.toyota.com says 1717675010 and 1717662040, not two of the same?

3397 miles later, the trip went great. Truck performed flawlessly. Crawled up a bunch of stuff on 4lo, in the dark sometimes, and did my best rally impression on a nice dirt road

Did an oil change, now it needs a bath.

From what I understand this is normal due to the PCV being on that side. My passenger valve cover looked the same.

Finished my install of the Rostra 250-1872 seat heater kit after a week of off and on work. Remediated some rust in the center console bracket, cut some brass sleeves to serve as bushings to let the seat belt receivers rotate properly like the OE setup. Re-did my amp wiring runs. Took me a lot longer than expected, probably near 15 hours but the results are worth it. Wanted to say thanks to @reallifeonhold for 3D printing the switch adapter for the coin tray and @turbodb for documenting the brass bushing install.

Added a fuse tap to the 20A wiper circuit.

Ah so same as @reallifeonhold. I am hoping to tap the power seat circuit that is already under the drivers side.

Interesting. I didn't see a fuse for power seats, is it one of the empty slots or is it wired into one of the other circuits? Did the limited trim have power seats in the 1st gen? Curious if all 1st gens would have the wiring for power seats
